Disney has stopped editing out the globohomo from their movies in international releases. This has resulted in most of their recent movies getting banned in China. The Buzz Lightyear movie everyone's already forgotten about got banned from most Arab countries, slapped with 18+ ratings in South Asia and had marquees warning parents about the gay kiss in a handful of South American cinemas.
One day investors are going to have to ask if pandering to a demographic that can't procreate is the right move for an allegedly family friendly entertainment when it results in their products getting pulled from international markets.

So the news is that there's an anime adaptation of a story on Reddit, akin to Densha Otoko (ages ago, a Tokyoite user on 2ch hooked up with a girl he saved from some creep on the train and began to date her, this story spread like wildfire and even got a manga and tv show), called Chibiham, Juicy, and Me. This story is from an American girl by the psuedynom of Paprika who is willing to detail her time in Japan with her once obese and weeaboo cousin, whom she pennamed Chibiham. Chibiham as you can tell, is going to embody a lot of what those out west hear about what people in Japan think of in terms of stereotypes of Americans- Namely, fat, obnoxious, entitled, and whatnot. But the greatest part is that this is eliciting so much asshurt from ANN users.

Honestly, I'm really loving how passive aggressively assmad everyone is on the forum right now. Fuck, no one's even read the story, and even if they did, they missed the more important parts. How fucking stupid and socially clueless do you have to be to not realize that Chibiham, though embodying a lot of stereotypes, isn't representative of every person from the States, and that the kind of logic this runs on should be part of basic human decency? But then again, this is Anime News Network we're talking about, a site that openly labeled all Japanese women as submissive "actively oppressed" doormats who "need to be liberated by us Americans" on their editorials fucking years ago. They're not even pointing out how this story was birthed from the eyewitness of the cousin of Chibiham, who is, well, 100% White/Hungarian American, and was picked up by an anime studio.

I don't know if this was covered before. Maybe it was, but I was looking around Twitter and discovered a couple weird things:
1. Justin Sevakis recently went on a big Twitter purge. I noticed a lot of his previous conversations with people were deleted because I found a bunch of responses to his deleted tweets. I don't know when this happened, but it looks like it was this year. Why would Sevakis delete so many tweets I wonder?
2. Sevakis and Zac did not follow each other on Twitter in recent history, beside them both following other ANN scumbags. Sevakis did not un-follow him because he died. He still follows Anthony Bourdaine after he offed himself. I don't know if this suggests they had a falling out or not. Sevakis has been rather cold in his comments about him despite MC-ing his stupid digital funeral.

I don't think he actually liked Zac. He and the other ANNers all made comments that they knew about his problems, but none of them made the effort to reach out to him during the lockdowns. Hope is the one with his blood on her hands, but everyone else contributed to it in some way through apathy.
He might also secretly resent him for being a "fake bi" or whatever since Zac was practically forced to say he was totally bi all along when Hope trooned out and began pegging him. While I'm sure it's a fantasy of many gay men to be some straight man's closet key, Zac might've not ever been considered a potential fuck-buddy in Sevakis' mind since he wasn't hot.
It's just speculation, of course, but it really is suspicious to claim to have been his buddy only to not actually be the good friend/intervention Zac needed.

A few pages back Sevakis tweeted about "how fucked up" Zac was. Sounds like Sevakis cut him off or something to me. He has also been trying to move away from ANN in general (sorry but your horrible rep is tied to that dumpster fire forever), but maybe that was somehwat related to abandoning Zac. Both these people are assholes, but Sevakis comes off worse in this instance since he was obviously being phony about it right after he died including doing the digital funeral, etc. These people were not Zac's friends at all as far as I can tell.

It appears to have been this year but probably before the stuff about calling a troon a dude or whatever. It was literally every conversation I saw he was in before a certian point this year including more benign conversations, just not him bitching about bad internet people or whatever he was butt hurt about. You can search twitter for @worldofcrap mentions and probably find a lot of it. So it was some kind of blanket purge. Just my opinion, but you usually do that when you want to obfuscate what you are actually trying to bury.
