This isn't necessarily a bad thing. The NYSRPA v Bruen decision is currently shredding every gun law that gets challenged, even in California. A couple states are frantically coming up with new workaround laws that are immediately being challenged in the courts and are destined to fail. If there was a good time for insanely overreaching gun laws, it's now. The bigger ones will get pushed up to the SCOTUS and get annihilated. If the DNC keeps fucking with gun regulations as hard as they have been, the NFA might be gone in a few years. If they were smart, they would cool it on the gun shit until the courts are more in their favor but fortunately they're not very smart.

The Draft - Some thoughts from a Boomer that lived it.
I was in high school in the early 70's (Class of 1974). NOBODY wanted to be drafted and the school would post the draft numbers. Most were under 18, but many weren't. It was like weekly Russian Roulette with five bullets in the chamber. Your number came up, Good Morning Vietnam! for you.
The tide of public sentiment and support for the Vietnam War had already turned. Kent State, protests everywhere over why are we sending our young men to die in a far-away shithole.
I turned 18 my senior year. I did NOT register for the draft, as was law then. Attended a lot of anti-war protests. And then, just like that, the draft got rescinded. We left Vietnam
. Tucked our sorry tails between our asscheeks and got the fuck out. Bad, but still not as bad as the freak show called "Leaving Afghanistan."
There were a lot of guys I knew that got conscripted during those years. Most of them called it bad luck and went and did their duty. Many I never heard from again. I starkly remember Walter Cronkite and Huntley and Brinkley on the evening news nightly. They would always lead with Nam. "Today, there were 756 North Vietnamese deaths and 113 American deaths." As somehow the body count was an indication we were actually winning the war. We weren't.
Hop-skip the Slappy time machine to today. Some of the parallels I see are amazing. Shit show in Ukraine. Military enlistment in the shitter. Nobody of fighting age wants to die fighting some Slav slapfight. Russia is already conscription. Do you think we're far behind? No, we're not.
The War Machine needs bodies. I find it all very sad.
Gonna leave this right here because you know what the fuck??? It HAS aged well and is as relevant now as it was in my youth.

Before I would have said no to conscription. Conscripts make terrible soldiers, especially with today's high skill requirement military.

I was a bad drunk in 2017-2018. Like a 24 pack gone (and then whatever after) like it's nothing drunk. I looked today because I was curious, what was 17.99 then is 26.99 today.
Maybe it's midwestern gas stations knowing they can take advantage of drunks, but to say it is below 10 percent inflation is nuts.
