The only way I can think of for a person to be a Jewish atheist is if the person is ethnically Jewish. Is this person just taking parts of Judaism that they like and leaving out the believing in God part? I don't get it.

The Jewish-based reason iirc, is that someone who really wants to convert to Judaism is seen as actually being Jewish because of how badly they wanna convert. The person who wants to convert would get denied at first and then have to go through a process that a normal person would decide is a waste of time.
Unfortunately since many of these people are attention-seeking and/or coomers, that idea has gone out the window. Compared to the chop, converting to Judaism is relatively painless.
Apparently there are a lot of troons in the Reconstructionist sect of Judaism, so I'm willing to bet that's the congregation this weirdo will be a part of.

Extra oppression points. We're getting to a level of saturation where simply being "trans" doesn't mean anything anymore so they have to be "trans" and some other oppressed group. "Converting to Judaism" was an insecure attention-seeker's meme before trooning out became a dime a dozen. Remember Tim Whatley? He wanted to be part of the "tribe" so he could tell Jewish jokes with impunity and fit in with the jaded urban crowd he ran with. Like all the comedy on that show, it was based on an aspect of reality. If you lack the balls to go full Dolezal, "converting to Judaism" used to be a way to change from a boring white person (everything is your fault) into a funny, oppressed minority (power, influence, immunity from criticism.) Or so it seems to these folks from the outside. Once they get in they realize that the Jewish card gets declined most of the time because the insiders know they are not REALLY part of the tribe, and everyone else still just sees an awkward white person.
