...Man, what has happened to this thread? It used to be one of the few places to get (somewhat) unbiased crumbs of actual news on the situation among the informational torrent and now it has devolved into nothing but belligerence and callous attempts to own the opponent no matter what. I feel that most people here don't even have a relation to the conflict, just picking a side and seeing the other side humiliated, hurt or killed gives you satisfaction and a desire to post a smug reaction image because your side got a win. Living through a war with horrible global ramifications and living in uncertainty over what happens tomorrow is already bleak, but seeing people flinging shit over it no matter what small part of the Internet you try to go makes it much worse. Was it the influence of the American two-party system that gave everyone the need to divide everybody into right and wrong without care or nuance? I mean, it probably started before that, and the Internet has only accelerated things, but when I think of the level of discussion and argumentation during the latest years, I can't help but feel a bit depressed.
Informational warfare can be as devastating as the physical one, and with technology becoming more advanced and people becoming more retarded, soon we may be nothing but herds of brainrotted nigger cattle going at each other's throats at the press of a button of our tech/government/corpo overlords. We just weren't ready for the technological evolution outspeeding our own, were we? And if WMDs aren't gonna fuck us, then the uncontrollable takeover of the flow information probably will.
...
I suppose, when there's nothing you can do about something you dislike, the best thing would be to avoid it, whether it's excessive alarmism or plain Internet retardation. But, God knows, it is becoming harder.
(Yes, I am aware that this was a needlessly long and overly emotional rant and no, I don't care. Holding in negative feelings is bad for the health.)
