Wasn’t the thing about Cuties that it was about immigrants growing up and culture clash, according to the director? IIRC, it wasn’t until Netflix came around that it reached the infamous status it now has.
Cuties is fucking weird. Netflix tried to bank on Outrage bait, but they got the wrong type of outrage. Instead of the "OH MY GOD, THIS REALLY DOES HAPPEN, WE NEED TO SAVE THE CHILDREN FROM SOCIAL MEDIA" outrage, they got the "OH MY GOD WHY WAS THIS MADE" outrage.
What I saw.:
>Girl does the most to become popular as it's the only way to make it.
>Goes on unfiltered internet and copies what she sees adult women preforming.
>Mother doesn't catch on and but when her new Stepmother catches her, she slaps her with the full power of allah, calls a Muslim exorcist to figure out what's wrong with her daughter.
>Corrupted by the internet, girl is hellbent on twerking for fame.
>Gets boo'd by everyone when she gets on stage.
>Runs home and through the power of Allah pretends the whole thing never happened and reverts to her carefree self she was at the start of the film.
>We never see the consequences of her increasingly fucked up actions.
I will never understand why people were outraged at a movie
THAT TELLS YOU TO WATCH OUT FOR YOUR FUCKING CHILDREN BECAUSE THIS IS WHAT HAPPENS IN REAL LIFE. Yes, they didn't need to have the girls do the dance moves - but let's face the cold hard truth. You can see worse on Tiktok and Youtube. Not too long ago, Family WAP and Watch my Parent's WAP Reactions! were a thing for an entire year until the fad died down. Nothing like effminate young boys and teenage girls trying to shock their parents with a explicit dance movies about their wet ass pussies on Tiktok to show you how fucked society is - and people were okay with it.
It was a literal shoot the messenger situation. Anyway.
I'm going to see if I can get a copy of Tank Fairy, and do a proper comparison to Cuties to see if there's any actual moral to the story.
It can either go one of three ways. ( I'm going to guess)
A) The boy learns a moral of "be yourself" from the draqqueen and then stops doing drag , gets the girl, the end.
B) the boy gets groomed into the being the most outrageous drag star ever and finds his new gay drag tribe
C) His parents beat his ass and they move far far away. ( I hope this is the ending)
But knowing these people, it's probably going to Be B. It might just be self positive drivel that does nothing but encourage young boys to be faggots.
Edit: Why? I'm one of those weirdos that doesn't pass complete judgement until after watching/reading the material. There's too many agenda-fags and glowies lurking around every single topic to trust any bandwagon.
