The 45 (possibly more) laypeople in question didn't officially engage him as their lawyer, and - if I read the Minnesota regulations correctly - this means all but the most egregious complaints are automatically thrown out.

Granted, whilst brigading against a lawyer might be egregious to us, his state's bar probably cares about gay internet drama as much as Minnesota's.
