As I recall, people who have escaped these fake news outlets (like members of the former Gawker empire) have said a lot of shit that appeared under their bylines wasn't even written by them but by some dipshit in charge.

I know there are a lot of memeing about Journoswine being lying scum (which is true), but they actually do care about their 'journalistic integrity', and having to retract a piece that cost at least $500 bucks to produce (and got international attention and was beginning to get mass syndication from other outlets sourcing them) is a massive amount of egg on their face.

They are fucking pissed at Fatrick for lying, and whichever journo that was tasked with vetting Fatrick is on the shitlist, and they're feeling extra heat because now whichever bigger news pubs started picking up on it will see them pull it, and it hurts the station and the GMs personal rep in the industry. Like "Who's this story from, so-and-so? Weren't they the ones who didn't vet their sources?". The fact that Fox 6 pulled the story is massive. If they were actually "intimidated", they would have instead released an even bigger triumphant "Local news agency attacked by rabid Alt-Right Norm Macdonald fans".
