I can understand being tired of the clone storyline if there's nothing interesting for that audience member to wrestle with. Like, someone who thinks its obvious that a clone isn't the same as the original and are their own person. It's a fact, just as much as the sky is blue and water is wet. But, like others have pointed out, just because your tired of it or it doesn't do anything for you doesn't mean that it's just inherently bad. And, as always, execution matters much more than just being full of original ideas. That said, it's funny to see Lily criticize an artist for being unable to get rid of a certain character when Lily refuses to do the same. In fact, pretty much all her stories are built around the framework of forcing her OC into someone else's world and letting them hijack the story with their own angst.
Lily's hateboner for Hunter in particular has always struck me as weird because, having recently watched the Owl House, there's really nothing objectionable about his character? Like, he's not annoying, he's not an antagonist whose deeds are 'too irredeemable' for the audience to accept as part of team good guy, and he's basically just a kid? Like, a 14 year old kid? Guy's literally still trying to figure out who he wants to be, as adolescents do, and then he finds out he's just a duplicate of someone else. One of possibly hundreds of duplicates of someone else. Duplicates that his father-figure has been disposing of like trash. The fact his name is 'Hunter' may not even be so much a name as it is just a title. Belos calls him 'Hunter' the same way a military officer might call their men 'soldier' or 'private.' He calls him Hunter because he's a witch hunter, and the kid just assumed that was his name. Kid's got a lot of trauma to go through, and normally Lily is a sucker for trauma dumping onto characters...who are women.
The real reason she hates Hunter seems to do more with her fandom policing shit. She sees the characters as just bait for teenage white-girls to gush about and make posts about how he's their 'baby.' He's just another Zuko or Loki or even Kylo Ren- just some pretty boy that exists to steal screen-time, fandom discussion and fanart from the protag and her girlfriend. It's like a weird, petty jealousy thing that people like Hunter more than Luz or something, but I guess being petty over dumb shit is just part of the Lily Orchard brand.
