President Joe Biden on Tuesday said that the United States will impose sanctions “far beyond” the ones that the United States imposed in 2014 following the annexation of the Crimean peninsula.

“This is the beginning of a Russian invasion of Ukraine,” Biden said in a White House speech, signaling a shift in his administration’s position. “We will continue to escalate sanctions if Russia escalates,” he added.

Russian elites and their family members will also soon face sanctions, Biden said, adding that “Russia will pay an even steeper price” if Moscow decides to push forward into Ukraine. Two Russian banks and Russian sovereign debt will also be sanctioned, he said.

Also in his speech, Biden said he would send more U.S. troops to the Baltic states as a defensive measure to strengthen NATO’s position in the area.

Russia shares a border with Estonia, Latvia, and Lithuania.

A day earlier, Russian President Vladimir Putin ordered troops to go into the separatist Donetsk and Lugansk regions in eastern Ukraine after a lengthy speech in which he recognized the two regions’ independence.

Western powers decried the move and began to slap sanctions on certain Russian individuals, while Germany announced it would halt plans to go ahead with the Russia-to-Germany Nord Stream 2 pipeline.

At home, Biden is facing bipartisan pressure to take more extensive actions against Russia following Putin’s decision. However, a recent poll showed that a majority of Americans believe that sending troops to Ukraine is a “bad idea,” and a slim minority believes it’s a good one.

All 27 European Union countries unanimously agreed on an initial list of sanctions targeting Russian authorities, said French Foreign Minister Jean-Yves Le Drian, and EU foreign affairs head Josep Borell claimed the package “will hurt Russia … a lot.”

Earlier Tuesday, Borell asserted that Russian troops have already entered the Donbas region, which comprises Donetsk and Lugansk, which are under the control of pro-Russia groups since 2014.

And on Tuesday, the Russian Parliament approved a Putin-back plan to use military force outside of Russia’s borders as Putin further said that Russia confirmed it would recognize the expanded borders of Lugansk and Donetsk.

“We recognized the states,” the Russian president said. “That means we recognized all of their fundamental documents, including the constitution, where it is written that their [borders] are the territories at the time the two regions were part of Ukraine.”

Speaking to reporters on Tuesday, Putin said that Ukraine is “not interested in peaceful solutions” and that “every day, they are amassing troops in the Donbas.”

Meanwhile, Ukraine President Volodymyr Zelensky on Tuesday morning again downplayed the prospect of a Russian invasion and proclaimed: “There will be no war.”

“There will not be an all-out war against Ukraine, and there will not be a broad escalation from Russia. If there is, then we will put Ukraine on a war footing,” he said in a televised address.

The White House began to signal that they would shift their own position on whether it’s the start of an invasion.

“We think this is, yes, the beginning of an invasion, Russia’s latest invasion into Ukraine,” said Jon Finer, the White House deputy national security adviser in public remarks. “An invasion is an invasion and that is what is underway.”

For weeks, Western governments have been claiming Moscow would invade its neighbor after Russia gathered some 150,000 troops along the countries’ borders. They alleged that the Kremlin would attempt to come up with a pretext to attack, while some officials on Monday said Putin’s speech recognizing the two regions was just that.

But Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin told reporters Tuesday that Russia’s “latest invasion” of Ukraine is threatening stability in the region, but he asserted that Putin can “still avoid a full blown, tragic war of choice.”

Moral sperging from US retards about civilian casualties during war time is hypocritical considering their body count far exceeds anyone else's.
Are you seriously going to argue with a straight face that Imperial Japan didn't have it coming? Unit 731 is estimated to have killed 400,000 on the low end with their biological warfare experiments (never mind the other experiments that killed 20k at the low end), and the Rape of Nanking alone was another 200k. After the Doolittle Raid Japan went and killed another 250k Chinese to get their dicks back up after being cockpunched. Over in Europe you had Rotterdam and then the threats towards Utrecht if the Netherlands didn't surrender. Tokyo? 100k. Dresden? 25k. The Axis powers sowed the wind, and they reaped a surprisingly bloodless whirlwind compared to what they did.
Ukraine apparently spent past 8 years actually absorbing and applying the American & British military advisors' lessons. And I'm still trying to get my mind around that.
2014 was a harsh teacher, it seems.

Russian soldier captured by Ukrainian forces claims he joined the army to pay off a World of Tanks-related debt
- Archive
"Making the rounds today is a viral video that has a Russian soldier who was captured by Ukrainian forces explain what he was doing joining in Russia’s invasion of the country, and that reason is: to pay off a criminal debt that he was slapped with for buying World of Tanks microtransactions with someone else’s card details.

The POW in the video admits that he found someone’s bank card in a store, stole it, then used it to buy 5,000 rubles’ worth of things in the military shooter, which amounts to about $80 USD. The next day, police were at the man’s door, and shortly after he was sued for an additional 300K rubles (just over $4,800 USD). This, in turn, led him to join the Russian military for three months in order to pay down the debt."
:stress:
"Later in the video, the soldier also admits that he spent money sending gifts to a female Tiktok personality."

I don't see anything strange, you just have to consider history between Ukraine and Russia. Things were on the mend until Putin decided to reopen old wounds and erase Ukraine as a nation off the map.
I don't mean politically, I mean tactically.
The usual 3rd world thing of having the US come in, train a small cadre of NCOs and then promptly sidelining the training doctrine for more of political promotions and continuing business as usual while occasionally trying to dream up excuses to send cousins to training classes in the US they will ignore and instead go shopping and partying.
see: Afghanistan, Airforce trainers stories about Saudi Pilots

Instead of following this usual script, Ukraine seems to have been actually paying attention, applying lessons, and have been running their end of the war like a professional military and not a bunch of Slavs with guns.

Part of the reason things go like this in 3rd-world shitholes is a competent military is dangerous. You can't abuse them or they may launch a coup, or a general may get too big for his britches. In the late 70s, due to all the hijackings Egypt and a fuck-up in Cyprus, they wanted a modern Counter Terrorist unit. The US wanting to take advantage of shifting Egyptian loyalties away from the USSR, had Delta Force members spent the better part of a year picking volunteers for the unit and training them, with Delta operators saying by the end they were confident the Egyptians could handle anything in an airport that Delta could.

The problem was all the competent guys were not politically reliable enough, so within five years all the Delta-trained guys had been pulled from the unit in exchange for people with the right political connections to be considered reliable. These idiots then blew up a plane in Malta.

So the fact that Ukraine, which is inhabited by Slavs, actually listened and followed up on the ideas given to them by Brits & Americans is still hard to accept.

Literal army of fags and simps.

Not after what happened in 2014. After that, Ukraine realized they had to shape up, or they will lose more land like they lost Crimea. So it's not that surprising they whipped themselves up into shape, while Russia got fat, lazy, and incompetent due to people being easily frightened by their size.

@Ghostse

If Russia could just stop fucking up for like 5 to 10 minutes, they could stall out the Ukrainian advance.
And we both know that's not going to happen, so lets just stop bringing it up.

Much like China, Russia too big of a market to not exploit. They'll find a way.
Except Russia isn't a big market at all. Its actually a miniscule market for its size (see: all the jokes in this very thread making fun of Russia's tiny GDP). And in any case, nobody is trying to find a way to do shit. Even the Chinese aren't trying to find a way. The Chinese aren't breaking the embargo; they are just buying fuel from Russia for cheap, and, please note, the U.S. pointedly did not set an embargo on Russian fuel because of European necessities in getting the stuff, so the Chinese aren't running afoul of trade embargoes in regards to that. NOBODY is running afoul of trade embargoes because nobody wants to piss off the U.S. government. There is simply no gain in doing that for most nations. Russia has nothing to offer for the risk.

Regarding your second point, that's the problem. Ukraine is eventually going to have to pay for this shit, and with their economy in the shitter and their intrastructure ruined, that's going to be ruinous.
I don't think anyone in the West is expecting to be paid back for any of this aid anytime soon, just like the U.S. never expected the Mujahedeen to pay them back for all the support they gave them during the Russian invasion of Afghanistan. Everybody understands that this is an investment towards a future, allied Ukraine, which is rich in natural resources, by the way. Everyone involved is thinking long term here.

There are not enough rainbows.
You say this, but remember in 2014 when Russia DID invade Ukraine successfully, and the German/Dutch response was to condemn this blantant act of unproved aggression, join in on economic sanctions, and then immediately shut down their coal plants and replace them with natural gas plants run by Russian natural gas? And when told by Orange Man this wasn't a great idea, Germany doubled down and shut down their nuke plants too.

Eurocucks are too dumb to learn. We need to be happy they rediscovered something close to a spine for as long as it lasts, but it won't last forever. Russia abused half of Germany for nearly half a century, but instead of being pissed about it like the Poles, they became gimpsuited "Please may I have another" FinDom simps. It's only a matter of time before they return to their roots
This isn't 2014. The geopolitical situation has changed. Germany and the rest of Europe now have egg on their faces because they have to begrudgingly admit that Donald Trump of all people was right and they are too dependent on Russian energy sources. And with all the shenanigans Russia has pulled since the war, especially in regards to energy, nobody is going to want to keep doing business with them after this.

I found this documentary made by a French reporter around 2015-2016 in the Donbas region. They also made a follow up documentary this year after the war begun, but it is not subtitled yet. Feel free to check it out if you're curious to know what was happening there back before the war.

We retrieve our soldiers defending their interests and let them get fucked by their own stupidity.

Seriously, the OPEC states were reliant on American protection for quite some time. It's time we let them stand on their own. They won't play ball with us? Fine. We'll find other sources of energy (LOL nuclear) and they can go fuck themselves.
Yeah....and then the economy collapses because the dollar is tied to oil.
This is OPEC, of which Russia is a member (don't see them needing your protection).

Basically Saudi sided with Russia and displayed that it doesn't really need US protection anymore considering the US no longer has the ability to defeat it enemies.

Biden now trying to hit up Venezuela and tapping even more of the strategic oil reserves shows desperation with 40% gone already.

Also, take a look at the Biden administrations attitude towards building more nuclear power plants, the climate change retards already put a stop to it so the US won't be "LOL nuclear" anytime soon. Ukraine defeat is going to fuck over the US.

Saudi only allied themselves with Russia because MBS is an egoistic manchild that threw a tantrum that Biden's administration stood up against his many incompetences
I wonder why trump never went after MBS then after biden went after him only to try and fail to suck his dick, was rather fun to watch.

No, the dollar is a fiat currency. It's worth as much as what the Federal Reserve says it's worth.

Russia is falling apart, and if things hit the fan, the Americans can always fall back on Texas and finish the Keystone Pipeline.

It kind of does. Russia is getting defeated by US arms alone. If the American army landed in Ukraine, they'd wipe out the Russians and march to Moscow.

We should've ended our dependency on oil decades ago. If this hastens it, then I'm all for it. Other sources like nuclear and ethanol are far better, anyways.

Also, take a look at the Biden administrations attitude towards building more nuclear power plants, the climate change retards already put a stop to it so the US won't be "LOL nuclear" anytime soon. Ukraine defeat is going to fuck over the US.
Defeat? The Ukrainians are winning. Also, the Biden Administration just threw more money to maintain and support Nuclear Power Plants:

So it doesn't seem like the green energy people are getting their way. Corporate Democrats tend to betray them after getting elected.

It's also gay, VERY GAY. Not figuratively but literally. These tards are simping for a bunch of degenerate sodomists to own the libs.
Ultra masculinity is an almost clichèd gay subculture.

Daily Mail has a decent summary of pedo Putin's revenge strikes:

Acts like that guarantee that all but moral and social deviants (on whom Russia sometimes holds kompromat) support Ukraine's fight against Asiatic barbarism. White people are murdered by literal Golden Horde Mongols and Moslems, yet they support the terrorist entity over a white country.

Damn, I guess Belarus and Russia are gonna just beat the shit out of Ukraine as everyone lights their Brandenburg gates and Eiffel towers in blue and yellow.

The sanctions will work THIS time, bros.
OHHH I'M A FIXIN' TO CONDEMN.

Imagine demanding genocide of other Slavs as a Slav.
Like Serbs and Croats 30 years ago? Or the Russians in Holodomor? Or Ukrainians and Poles in the years 1943-1947?

Get real. Slavs kill each other just like wolves from different packs kill each other. There is no such thing as slavic unity (neither germanic unity, nor scandinavian unity, nor any of this nonsense at all).

Panslavism and other blahblah like it is a pure stupidy produced by russians.
White people are murdered by literal Golden Horde Mongols and Moslems, yet they support the terrorist entity over a white country.
Kadyrov is a fucking traitor of Islam deserving nothing other than grave on a pigfarm. If someone is looking for true and honest moslems in this war we have some Chechens on the side of civilization in two separate units:

- Dzhokhar Dudayev battalion,
- Sheikh Mansur battalion.

Main difference between Chechens fighting on ukrainian side and kadyrov's cowards is one thing: both of this units are fighting in real, not at tiktok.
