If I recall correctly, he said that the way Google remunerates their employees means that after they've been there a while the stock they are given each year is worth more than their base salary (I think he claimed he was on $800k when he left Google). So that would make him a "literal multi-millionaire" without really putting him into the category of someone who never has to work again.

I have no idea what house prices are like in Canada, but a house or apartment in a desirable location in Sydney will cost him well over $1,000,000 even with house prices falling. It's almost impossible to find anything to rent here, too.
