Unlimted was great, a little out there and felt like it was going to be a Spider-Man 2099 series but they couldn't get the rights at the last minute so they borrowed elements from that series and took the title of a semi obscure book that was more or less started to milk the comic boom of the 90's for all it was worth.I prefer Spider-Man Unlimited. While not the best series, I was more interested in that.
Flash forward to the 2010's...just before the dark times. Ultimate was WAY over hated when it first came out. Most of the hate was from fans butthurt that Spectacular was cancelled and we got Ultimate in its place. Which isn't true Ultimate wasn't directly responsible for the cancellation of Spectacular it was all cooperate bs over the Spider-Man right that marvel and Sony are STILL bickering over to this very day.
I still like Ultimate, even if my childhood belongs to the 90s animated series. (which I admit was and still is a flawed product of its time) Spidey turned 60 last summer and for better or worse he's here to stay. Here's hoping Freshmen year will at least be tolerable and an improvement over the "amazing friends" baby show. Seriously I get it, Spidey's almost as popular as Bluey, paw patrol, or god forbid peppa pig with little kids...even though his franchise has always been aimed at older fans even way back in the 60s. That doesn't mean you have to dumb him down more and more until he's literally turned into a baby's program Marvel/Disney.
