From what I recall in the TLL thread, I believe their microgrant program provides financial assistance to transgendered folks living in locations that allow them change their government ids (birth certificates, drivers licenses, etc.) to show a gender other than their birth gender but can't afford the nominal fees.

Even if the program does what it's intended for, it doesn't change the fact TLL is still pretty sketchy as a charity and allowed its founders to siphon off $350k with little chance any of it will be repaid.

There might be an exhibitionist aspect to it, they want to broadcast their fetishes. They are central to their existence. In the same way people have hobbies like going to the gym, or dancing or visiting abandoned buildings, these people base their identities around their fetishes.
