I've actually played multiple different translations of Chrono Trigger. The original, two seperate fanslations - one with a direct translation of the original content, one with generally better westernized dialogue, and the updated official translation in 2008 on DS. Frog's dialogue isn't changed much other than the olde english and the fact that he's somewhat more snarky and sarcastic in the original. You're missing the point of what I was getting at with all that, though - which is that the censorship and changes that were present in the original CT localization ("Stone Soup," the "Flea Vest" and "Charm Top," Ayla's joke towards Marle in the Rainbow Shell quest for example) weren't enough to fuck up the game's story, premise, or overall presentation.

Same. If anything, Frog's olde english was an arguable improvement given his character, who was the apprentice to a much better knight whose shoes he worked his ass off to fill, kinda fit that whole theme. The other changes were still pretty minor and didn't really fuck shit up.

What was done to Fire Emblem:Fates is as bad as the original Atlus translation of Persona 1, which they tried very badly to Westernize (though Japanese themed stuff remained everywhere), and their attempt to do so was so bad it forced them to introduce a ton of retcons to Persona 2 Eternal Punishment to try and repair most of the damage (which was otherwise translated as faithfully as possible), but even within the original game, they butchered so freaking much that Atlus themselves is still ashamed of it and bent over backwards to maker sure the PSP port would be as faithful to the original as possible (the new music is an arguable minus point, but it's otherwise much better).
