US Waukesha massacre suspect Darrell Brooks pleads not guilty to all charges - It was the SUV

The Milwaukee man accused of killing six people and running over dozens with an SUV at a Christmas parade in Waukesha, Wisc. pleaded not guilty to every charge laid against him.

According to the local Fox affiliate, Darrell Brooks, 39, pleaded not guilty to all 77 charges against him.

Brooks remains in jail on $5 million bail. GoFundMe confirmed to FOX Business in November that they removed the fundraiser for violating the crowdsourcing platform's Terms of Service. Additionally, the person who launched the fundraiser, reportedly a man named James Norton, will no longer be permitted to use the platform for any future fundraisers.

The courts have said that there is ample evidence against Brooks, as well as testimony from police detective Thomas Casey, who described how Brooks plowed into citizens even after some yelled at him to stop. Brooks allegedly "zigzagged" across the street "for blocks" at the family event.

Victims include an 8-year-old boy, along with members of the Dancing Grannies troupe, that was performing in the parade.

Public defender Anna Kees said that her defendant could not turn off the route, and that he did not intend to hit pedestrians. She also said that Brooks couldn't bring himself to look at photos of the crimes he allegedly committed.

And this is the kind of thing which is why you don't defend yourself in a criminal case even if you actually are a lawyer. You open it up for scenes like this which almost always horribly backfire on you, look like you're a piece of shit bullying witnesses you already caused harm to, etc.

He can try appealing but I watched the hearing they had before Brooks was granted his request to represent themselves and the Judge spent over an hour explaining to him that it was a bad idea, that he had no idea what he was doing, and he would have to do it without help. So the chances of an appeal on the grounds of him botching his own defense are pretty slim.

I guess there's always the possibility the jury is retarded and somehow either don't convict him or we end up with a hung jury. In the latter case the state would definitely try the case again but Brooks might just go back to having a public defender. It all hinges on if they believe Brooks was the one in the vehicle, since obviously if he wasn't then he couldn't be convicted of all the other charges.

Still really looking forward to Brooks' portion of the proceedings, think it should start Tuesday afternoon since the jury is supposed to see the car that day. Kinda hard to estimate since Brooks spends so much time asking witnesses irrelevant and pointless questions. My guess is his opening will probably just be a rehash of everything he talked about during his 50 minute rant. The prosecution can object during the opening statement, which they will if he starts talking about "MUH SUBJECT MATTER JURISDICTION!" Best case scenario is Brooks goes ballistic in front of the jury.

The prosecution can object during the opening statement, which they will if he starts talking about "MUH SUBJECT MATTER JURISDICTION!" Best case scenario is Brooks goes ballistic in front of the jury.

Subject matter jurisdiction isn't even remotely a matter for the jury to consider, it's a question of law with no questions of fact in the mix. The judge can just instruct the jury that they don't need to and should not consider the issue, that's her job as judge.

Yeah. That line about it being necessary to defend even scoundrels against the infringement of rights holds especially true here. I want Brooks to have a fair trial... and a fair prison sentence afterwards. I want absolutely zero confusion about this man's misdeeds that day and after, in both the eyes of the law and the public.
