The problem with Trump's first term was treachery from his own people. Compared to Kari Lake or DeSantis, her merits are pretty damn low in comparison. I find it more likely she either angles for a cabinet position or runs again. Running again would be dumb, but her 2020 run was dumb too.

This is generally my view too. Especially since Trump for his first term attempted to gain a mixed cabinet of the best experts and up-and-comers he could. There will be a lot of people way more willing to consider it now that the Democrats actively exploded.

Tbh, I always felt the plan for the DNC in late 2019/very early 2020 was to make sure Biden got the nomination and run him as a jobber since Biden is the candidate who would do the least amount of any downballot damage if he lost to Trump since Biden was a political lolcow geezer even before he went senile.

After Tulsi sank Kamala in the very first debate, Biden was pushed a lot harder since the DNC wanted to make sure that interlopers like Tulsi, Yang, and Bernie were kept out of the picture and they could run a jobber who'd be Establishment enough to win moderates but also an old White guy whose loss could be spun into something to appease the Woke Left.

Even though Bernie was controlled opposition by the time of the 2020 primaries, a lot of his campaign's staffers were true believer commies who were too much of a liability for the corporate elites.

Then COVID-19 happened. Once the pandemic state of emergency was declared in March 2020, the DNC found their golden ticket and changed their big strategy accordingly. Now they saw this as an opportunity to win by any means necessary.

Kamala was always a deeply unpopular candidate except among AWFLs, journalists, and the twitter botnets her campaign ran. The joke is "Kamala 2020 didn't make it to 2020" and it wasn't a consequence of how she did during the debates -- she was never, at any point, popular.

If anything, Yang got an outsized spotlight compared to the impossibly small sliver of the party he appeals to : economically illiterate redditors, basically.

The DNC only knew that they couldn't let Bernie win. They kept him out of the picture, absolutely, but comparing Tulsi's popularity / exclusion to Bernie's is like comparing apples to mangosteen. The DNC absolutely despises the Woke Left and relishes every opportunity to humiliate them which is why after Biden was in office they started giving shitloads of money to the police and Pelosi was sneering about Bernie's environmental plan calling it "The Green Dream or whatever." Biden was only the nominee after he won the primary in South Carolina -- a state he went on to lose in the general -- and nearly every other candidate dropped out to support him. I've heard this was due to a phone call from Obama but that could be a rumor.
