Well, that's the biggest fucking mystery personally for me. What the point was make Joshy go to work?

I have a pet theory that Joh is making a bit more than he lets Pissa know.

We know he's paying her family gas money for the rides to and from work, as well as paying them back for bail. That already cuts into his paycheck -- to see the rest spent on pet food and Pissa's whims, like new hair colors or the ren faire thing...

It's one thing to spend others' money. His own? I would expect him to be saving some away from Pissa, and once the divorce goes through (if ever) he can fuck off in peace.

Otherwise, I don't get how they don't even have enough money to turn the power back on La Casa.

Assuming he really is only part time (20 hrs/week) and makes $13.25/hr and taking out a generous amount of taxes, he's bringing home about $625 a month. I think Poorlissa mentioned once needing $5 to get him to and from work so deduct a pretty generous $100/month for gas to whoever has to haul him around. I don't even know where to start with what he's paying back for bail but assuming it came from family who knows how poor they are, I can't see them making him pay back more than $150 a month. That leaves $375 a month for cat and dog food and to save some for their own personal Tara.

Eta: I only have one cat but she's a picky bitch who only eats relatively expensive shit. I probably spend $50-60/month plus $15 for litter. Poorlissa feeds most of her pets the nastiest Friskies crap and probably doesn't change litter very often, I assume she could get away with allocating $75 total to completely cover the animals.

I looked at the wishlist and besides cat food she has some superfluous and outright stupid shit on a list supposed to be for cat food. The first items added are always at the bottom of an Amazon wishlist, so keep that in mind. (There is the chance that since the list is old the Purina is always going to be newest, but why are cat treats and air wicks on this urgent almost out of cat food list?)

Even making pennies he’s making something. Pissa claims her tugboat covers the rent and utilities so he should be able to pay for the food. Although Id love to see her excuse to not have her mom take her to the pet food pantry. “They give expired Purina!”

Dobby also feels like an afterthought here. I genuinely wonder if she’s intentionally feeding him the cat food to save money. He looks so bad, though. I just thought he was naturally that wiry until I saw his 2020 photos. That dog ain’t getting the right food. Always whale eyeing too, poor thing.

The application on the website for the Alabama SPCA pet pantry asks how many/what kind of animals and if all of them are spayed/neutered and up to date on vaccines which we pretty much know hers are not.

They do work under certain circumstances (such as moving home, when cats are likely to get unsettled) but I don't know if Pissa thinks that far ahead so I'll assume she thinks it'll stop the cats fighting. Aside from hoarding so many cats, the worst thing you can do is NOT get them fixed! Both female and male cats who are unfixed will fight and spray urine. My second cat came to me unfixed. I got her spayed of course but before I did, she always sprayed my hamper in the bathroom or around it.

The ammonia from all the pee is not good for cats either. I just have two and they are just messy enough that I can't imagine scooping after ELEVEN.

A friend of mine operates a REAL cat rescue,as in she has non-profit status. She sometimes has had up to the local limit of 25 cats but unlike Poly, she is a legit sanctuary(legal and everything) and gets donations to help with food and vet bills.All her cats are vetted thoroughly too. She's had to use a lot of her own funds to supplement donations. THAT is what a rescue shelter is, not this mess that Poly calls a refuge.

Porklissa's need to have 11 cats trumps the actual needs of said cats. It's incomprehensible to me that she calls herself a "cat lover" and/or gives people the impression that she "rescued" all these cats when the reality is that she's actually just a lazy, selfish, abusive and neglectful hoarder. These cats are only possessions and props to make herself look like a caring person who makes endless sacrifices to end the suffering of poor defenceless animals. By keeping all these cats but not providing them with enough food, space, fresh air, grooming, enrichment or regularly occurring vet care is the complete opposite of being a cat lover. A true cat lover would admit defeat, realize that the cats' needs should be the priority and then, rehome them. If she had an ounce of integrity, she'd put their needs first instead of using them for beggin' bucks. But no, what she's actually doing is basically saying fuck you to these cats--because what Porky wants and needs comes first. Ugh, this bitch. Gimme all the top hats.

If it's like the one in my area, they won't deny you. We do biweekly packages (delivery or you can shop at the pantry) and allow a once a month package of staples and pet food if you demonstrate need, like if your income is extremely low.

My kid and his wife have a cat that's got some kind of nervous condition from wherever he was before he was rescued. He used to chew on his tail and yowl at night. They tried the pheromone things but they didn't work at all. The only thing that helped was getting him some kitty Prozac and a little buddy to distract him.
