This idea was pretty satisfying.

Sidenote: delusion of grandeur usually comes as a side condition to narcissistic personality disorder, bipolar disorder and/or schizophrenia.

It's not unusual for people suffering from delusion of grandeur to get much worse overtime and Chantal is absolutely getting deeper in her delusions... yet they are still pretty mild compared to what they could be.

Thinking she is pretty, desirable, rich and successful to the point others are jealous of her, and believing she'll get married to Salad , move to Kuwait and live the extravagant life of a home queen with food brought to her and a personal chauffeur are actually very low key delusions.

Chantal also displays the two most common delusions people who suffer from delusion of grandeur usually experience : thinking they are famous, and believing they are immortal (or can do anything without the fear of dying prematurely).

Basically what I'm saying is that I've only very recently stopped believing Chantal is aware of her situation. I now believe she is absolutely living in her own world, lying incessantly to herself more than to others and will one day have to suffer some serious consequences, which she probably won't be able to cope with as she is more and more distancing herself from reality.

As much as her life took a plunge since Bibi got away, I think we only saw the tip of the iceberg so far.

I can't help but wonder if this was brought on by some form of psychosis though, in addition to her, obviously being mentally ill from the start. Because the one thing that Clotso is consistent with is her cycles. I've been watching her for a very long time, longer than I've been active on the farms and this is a real break from what I've personally seen. I think it's safe to say the heavy extensive drug use put a dent in the cycle and has thrown us all for a loop and I'm fucking here for it. The last thing I expected in the Chantalverse was a different dip on the monster truck hamster wheel. Them taking on her challenges will make zero difference to her delusions. It'll just be entertainment for us to watch her try to talk her way out of reality. But the nifty thing about actual delusions -- not what people use the term casually for, but actual mental illness -- is that proof, facts, and reality make absolutely no dent in them at all. You can't reason people out of them. If you tell the guy who's convinced the CIA implanted a chip in his brain that the CIA just doesn't care about him, he'll just decide you're a CIA agent sent to lull him into a false sense of security. At best, he'll think you're trying to convince him he's crazy in order to control or discredit him. At worst, he'll take a swing at you for lying to his face.

This stuff isn't a joke. Well, it is with Chantal because she's Chantal and everything about her is a joke. But there's a lot of things that could be wrong with her (as in, there are actual signs and symptoms of several different conditions/disorders/diseases) with THC-induced psychosis slowly climbing its way to the top of the list. I'm a pothead myself, so don't take this as an anti-cannabis thing, but you CANNOT consume 1000-2000mg of THC in edibles PLUS smoke daily for over a year and not expect serious mental health consequences. She's not using her genuine illness as an excuse, because she's unaware she has a genuine illness. She wants to use the, "oh muh mentalz, I'm sooooo depressed, I can't clean my house, feel sorry for me, I have to eat 14 cheeseburgers because I have a condition, don't judge me, I'm an addict!" line and I agree that's bullshit. But her inability to self-reflect means she's genuinely unaware of her shitty, disordered personality (which is within her control to change, if only she'd realize that SHE is the problem in her life) and if she has an organic brain issue (like a delusional disorder) that's 100% outside her control.

Now, the fact that it GOT outside her control might arguably be her fault. Her drug abuse is shocking, and any rational adult should recognize that. It's like how her blood sugar being out of control isn't her fault right now, because she's an unmedicated diabetic and that's what happens to unmedicated diabetics. But eating her way into diabetes and then refusing to comply with treatments (either medication or diet) is completely her fault. This is why we do things like lock people up until their meds have a chance to start working, because when they're in the throes of the disease they don't have the ability to make the proper decision to keep taking their meds. They're just not competent.

It's not either/or, is all I'm saying. She can be a shit person who made her bed and also have -- or have developed -- a severe mental illness as a result of her genetics/lifestyle.

Who knows exactly what is fueling Chantal's bizarre behavior but if she is suffering from delusions, her delusions are quite a common fat girl issue that will always make it impossible to see when she is being exploited, no matter how many times it happens.

Lots of severely obese women - the sorts who make being fat their main personality trait - have insufferable superiority complexes. They genuinely believe they are smarter, prettier, kinder, loyaler, and more industrious than the skinny bitches all the hot guys with abs prefer. It's just that all the hot, rich, stable men are shallow and don't care that they are with a dumb, lazy, mean whore as long as she is skinny. One day the hot guys will realize their mistake and come, with hat in hand, and sweep all the fat chicks off their feet.

Not exaggerating this trope. Chantal would look at someone pretty, fit, with lots of friends who love her, with an education and career and with hobbies on the side, and assume she is lazy, that people only like her because she is pretty, that she is dumb and has no ambitions or real interests outside of her vanity.

This is because Chantal does not recognize any human endeavor as having values other than what she assigns it. Therefore cleaning one's house is just something done to make men think you are domestic, not something the sane do because living in a dump and wearing filthy clothes is gross, or because it is appealing to live in a nice-smelling, orderly environment. One works out to attract men, not to remain fit and healthy. One gets an education to make money to look more attractive to men, not because people have genuine interests and dreams fulfilled via jobs and intellectual pursuits. And one is kind to everyone not because of a desire to help or a honest interest in the well-being others but rather as a fake persona that is dropped once the wedding ceremony is over.

Such women ring as being fundamentally dishonest to Chantal, and sooner or later they will reveal that they are just like her - lazy, dirty, gluttonous, unhealthy, unkind, stupid. She both believes that other women are just like her only fake because they hide it while also being inferior because at least when Chantal does anything positive her motives are pure. It's a bizarre balance, to believe everyone is like you but too dishonest to reveal it while also believing one is superior, but it's something everyone woman with a BMI over 60 engages in.

So in her mind, her delusion that Salah really does want a woman ten years older, who is barren, nasty, cruel, so unhealthy it's a miracle she isn't dead, so fat that most sexual positions are off the table, unclean, unstable and insane is just the justified result from her core beliefs. Of course he would want to take care of her because he sees how honest and real and superior she is. Implanting a monkey uterus in her and hoping for the best is a far better option than selecting a slender, young woman who actually shares his faith and wasn't just last week fucking married men to bear his children.

So of course she doesn't see Salah's attentions as weird, obviously scam-like, or unusual. His deep instant love for her is just the logical, justified end result of being offered a Chantal and being enlightened enough to see how much better she is than all the other women out there.
