All of this is while the ground game is decaying, infrastructure is falling apart, people are fleeing NYC in droves, and the Dems have no meaningful response to any of it beyond focusing on asinine shit.

I'm sure they'll try to register the migrants as voters to inflate their voter turnout.

Funnily enough, even some pozzed media outlets are questioning if this was a political decision due to midterms. Obviously, it is, but people are realizing that the SPR was one of the few pieces of leverage we had and it's all but gone before things even got disastrous.

I was thinking this morning about how my 2008 self would feel with me believing OPEC is not in the wrong from the current situation.

If I remember correctly, they originally set the price floor at 80$ and then shifted to 70$ because apparently the current administration thinks this shit is just like Michael Scott from The Office declaring bankruptcy.

From the Oil Nation perspective, they are absolutely going to seize this opportunity. It's been global policy to move green (whether the infrastructure even exists or not) which obviously implies less reliance on oil and less revenue for OPEC and others.

The only real leverage the US has is the USD, and uhh, the adversaries are obviously trying to remove that leverage.

Anyone would be this awful with this level of direct involvement. Problems is very much the gov trying to 'solve' problems they made in the first place, by creating more problems. Bidens mistake is buying into the myth that the president can control or fix anything. There's no conspiracy, there's just a government with a limited set of levers that can affect a limit set of things, and they're trying to affect all the things, in different and conflicting ways, at the same time.

The other issue is that even with the strategic reserve being emptied as quickly as possible... gas is still too damn expensive. Going from "jesus fucking christ" to "god damn it, fine" on pricing isn't exactly a win.

When you're dealing with The President (yes, the capitalization is on purpose), who holds a great deal of actual, hard power, soft power can be surprisingly difficult to apply. Especially if his brains are leaking out of his ears and he is physically incapable of understanding such complex terms as "blackmail". You apply the screws to a man like that and he might just snap and do something stupid.
