Has anyone else noticed that the lighting and atmosphere in the remake just looks really off? Everything is too bright and completely lacking the graininess and desaturated look of the OG.

I remember complaints about the remastered ports being too clean because it didn't have the grainy filter.Has anyone else noticed that the lighting and atmosphere in the remake just looks really off? Everything is too bright and completely lacking the graininess and desaturated look of the OG.
He did horror visual novels. He used that pen name for so long that that's how people even remember him. Now, i'm a niggerfaggot, but am i supposed to know who Ryukishi07 is...? Game's bulletpoints include this guy writing the story, but if the writer's billed by what i assume is his online handle, first thing that pops to mind is "fanfiction", and i can count in one hand how many good ones there are.
Let me be fair and say that wasn't why he was put on the map. The most fun Higurashi and Umineko brought was getting fans together and try to figure out what the hell was going on. The fanservice is a tiny fraction of his work and not even the most memorable parts.

Alright, now give us your professional synopsis on Umineko.PSA: Don't believe the anime profiles saying this guy can write. The reason why Konami is pushing this chink hard is because of his popularity, not whether or not he could be a competent writer.
Reasons why this guy sucks:
His "mysteries" are not only generic in premise, but also a complete cluster fuck full of archetypes and Anime cliches that would make anyone cringe. The best example of this is Higurashi, with it's carbon copy harem anime archetypes and self insert protagonist. Not only that, but the "most impactful" scenes from both the game and anime are just bad gore fests where loli girls get stabbed or murdered just because it's "scary." It's run of the mill cringe anime writing, any semblance of "engaging mystery" or "immersion" which is something the "fans" keep yapping about Higurashi, gets completely thrown out the window when the autistic blue haired loli goes "nipa".
TLDR: His writing is just coomer level visual novel where the guy is more centered on making self insert fantasies with archetypes than creating something engaging and not autistic.

"Isn't this scary? Anime little girl has dead eyes and is angy and about to kill you with a scynthe? Oh my this is sooo spooky. She also cooked meatballs for your pleasure. Oh my god those had needles in them! Oh my lord! This gives me the chills"
...Yeah, reading this, it explains a lot... Not a fan of anime, so my expectations for SHF went down a little... Still, i'll give it a chancePSA: Don't believe the anime profiles saying this guy can write. I won't lie, he needs a wrangler. I think there's more to his stuff than just "killer waifus" but he needs someone to tell him 'no'.Mother fuckers really out here saying Higurashi season 1 at least wasn't entertaining.
The dude's an interesting pick for a Silent Hill game, simple as.
No kidding, this was MGS1 at E3:Just realized that the OG Silent Hill 2 trailer showed lots of gameplay and very little plot details (the most they had was ingame cutscenes just showing off the cast), while the remake was majority plot teasing and flash and zero gameplay. Easy metaphor for gaming in general these days. They're missing the point so hard
A word about Silent Hill F, while i *love* the idea of the Otherworld being different depending on the person experiencing it (one of the things Shattered Memories got right with the frozen Otherworld) that trailer is giving me Siren vibes...
If you know Silent Hill you probably know about the Forbidden Siren series too so i won't delve into it, but damn... In my opinion, those games are awful gameplaywise. Clunky, slow, unfairly hard... They've got an intriguing plot that's interesting to read about and/or watch someone else play, but as a game itself? They kinda suck.
I've always laughed at how MGS trailers were literally just like "here is literally every animation, environment, visual effect and gameplay thing we currently have done for this game." and then MGS4 was just like "all we got are cutscenes"No kidding, this was MGS1 at E3:
Never even implied it should have been.I didn't say it was a masterpiece, calm down.
I never even wrote that's what it was. What is it then? The mystery?I won't lie, he needs a wrangler. I think there's more to his stuff than just "killer waifus" but he needs someone to tell him 'no'.
With the rain it makes me think that that particular shot might be from the prison yard gallows sequence that they've Improved™ but tough to say. Another example of fantastic mood and ambience with the sound of horses running around you in the darkness of this giant open yard after the claustrophobic horrors of the prison interior. And even better when you remember there are subtle references to being drawn and quartered hence the sound of horses in the first place.I like how that isn't even the right setting for when the noose cinematic takes place, considering the whole noose thing was an indoors puzzle setpiece originally.
The shot of his trembling hand killed me. It's impossible for me to separate my own knowledge of the game from someone without any idea of it but maybe someone who's going in blind might see that and just think 'oh, he's so scared from the scary town that he's shaking!' Maybe.I was wondering, are they missing the point so hard for the SH2make that they're actually spoiling the plot for whatever zoomer hasn't played before? Because Silent Hill 2 was a pretty slow burn and James seemed genuinely optimistic, if skeptical, at first. You know why. Here, James Jr. is all mopey and blatantly depressed, and they chose like the most damning shots (him hanging himself, crying in the mirror) for the fucking announcement trailer. Gee, I wonder what he's so sad about??? I wonder if they're just not even trying and just assuming everyone knows what his deal is, in which case there's even less of a reason to remake it.
I've posted about this before I think but Siren is one of the greatest games you should never play. It's clunky and obtuse and the original PS2 version has a shitty frame-rate (Blood Curse is atrocious too when sight-jacking) but the story and ambience and sound design is so so so good that you just need to watch some of the fans who've done Let's Plays and aren't total spergs show it off. Siren 2 is bizarre and worth watching too but not as interesting as the first game. Siren 1's OST is fantastic dark ambient by way of Japan. The first Siren is one of the most impenetrable games i've ever played. Anyone who says they beat the game without looking at a guide is a a liar, simple as.
"Bro you didn't know to pick up a face towel, go to a sink in another building, wet the towel, then plug in a freezer, place the wet towel in the freezer, then in a different mission with a completely different character 12 hours later, retrieve the same frozen towel, take it to a piggy bank elsewhere in the level, place it under the piggy bank, wait two minutes for the towel to melt, causing the piggy bank to fall, which will distract the attention of an enemy so you can sneak past??"
Thankfully Siren: Blood Curse, a reimagining of the game on PS3, is a much more linear affair which removes a ton of the esoteric puzzle nonsense. Absolutely recommended for the atmosphere and mindfuck plot.
Not a bad OST either:
The dub is awesome. So strange, perfectly fits how bizarre the game is.Siren could have been even more successful if it wasn't for that awful dub.
