Hideki Kamiya is the embodiment of the razor-thin line between Auteur and Autist.

I like Nintendo.Been seeing an awful lot of corporate dick sucking in this thread.
Bruh... I just think he sucks, it's not that deep. Why do people get so mad at a bald, Asian, spergy video game developer for telling English speakers to eat shit and blocking more than half of the people who say anything to him?
Like, it's one thing to be like "Kamiya's a clown for doing this", but some of you seem genuinely mad that he acts like this, and has been acting like this for years well before the current controversy.
Why does getting blocked by someone you already didn't like on Twitter matter so much to you?
It's even more funny when you consider that at least that guy came out to the world. Unlike Scalebound.Say what you want about Kamiya, but he made this tweet and it is still funny imo

Ironically I think that the actors like Yuri Lowenthal probably don't have ridiculously high rates. They make their money by sheer quantity. Even ignoring the fact that Helena was probably offered much higher than she claimed, the initial rate was quite high if you factor in hours worked. If she was putting out roles at the rate those big name VAs do she'd be pulling in a ton of money. The only reason it seemed low is because people are mathematically incompetant and because she only voices 1 fucking character. Even if recording took a full 40 hours (not at all the case from what I've heard), she'd still be paid at a rate of $100 an hour. Working a full work week that would be over 200k a year. VA work clearly isn't that stable, but this is already inflating the time worked to begin with. Anyone getting those rates and getting more roles is probably doing just fine.Does this entitled bitch really think she deserves some huge amount of money for a single role in a franchise that isn’t even that big? Not to mention that her voice is so easy to replicate that I had no idea they even got a different actress. Unless you’re a name like Troy Baker, Laura Bailey, or Yuri Lowenthal, don’t expect some massive amount of money. I’m still gonna buy Bayonetta 3 because I like Bayonetta, and I think it looks fun.
Oh exactly, Bayonetta doesn’t even speak much in her own games. For 4K, that’s a pretty damn easy job.
————————————————-
Also, she’s such a small actor that her only big roles are in Bayonetta 1&2. Of course you won’t be paid a lot, you’re barely in anything.
I can only reference Western productions as that's what I'm familar with - although there are clearly iconic English versions of Japanese games. Charles Martinet is basically revered as Mario. You referenced Hayter as Snake, but honestly that whole fucking English cast is so good (Cam Clarke is a unbelievably good and his speeches take that entire game up another level). You’re referencing Western productions as opposed to Eastern productions. Voice actors get a lot more famous doing games made in the US or Europe because they’re better ties to that character as opposed to having a Japanese voice actor be adjacent to him/her. Even Solid Snake has Hayter and Otsuka pitting against each other on who is the most recognizable in their respective regions.
This is also probably why many voice actors (Troy Baker, Laura Bailey, Steve Blum, Travis Willinghan, etc.) went from doing predominately anime and Japanese video games in the early 2000s to mostly American video games and cartoons later on. The market is just there for them, until it became more saturated.
Over the years I've notice when it comes to anime and gaming, the US is in the "Special Olympics" category with VA's. Once in a while you'll get something that's professionally done (e.g. RE Village), but otherwise it's the foreign languages that outshine the english lines. Only time you see good voice acting in the US is in hollywood movies, but even that has been taking a hard nosedive in the past few years.Aren't voice actors supposed to be, you know, "actors" from the get go? I mean from what I can see this bitch never had any acting gig besides voice work. Even in Latin American dubs it's almost law that people have to either take acting classes or do theater before becoming voice actors.
How much dirt must Platinum have on Schreier for him to not write his typical "big corporation treats poor workers badly, feel bad for them" article on this situation and instead defend them?
To the suprise of no-one; the boycott backfired and it's getting sold out on amazon.
And that's all she wrote
"Special thanks to that one woman who was here a few times."Lmaoooo they are basically tl;dr although its obvious they mean Helena when they say contributed.
nah, he's a slimy weasel and there's enough evidence of the opposite so his usual stick doesn't work without getting called out. remember he's trying to be a serious journalist now...The bigger your shush money, the more these wimps will get on their knees. Also, Platinum is a "small Japanese firm with lots of hopes and dreams" they can't do no wrong.
That's the thing. She is. She like most British VAs did vo as a tiny maybe one time thing in between stage stuff. Thing is, with records on the internet, you'll really only know about all that stuff in detail if someone can be bothered to keep a record. Or the fanbase cares enough to start trying to track down what you did before.Aren't voice actors supposed to be, you know, "actors" from the get go?
