Even if we take her at her word, and insiders say not to, 4k for half a days work is stupidly high. VA is not the kind of industry where people are supposed to be able to get by doing only 1 thing. That holds true for acting in general. And if you ever are cast in something that stops you doing more pay usually increases to accommodate.
Helena specifically seems to be having the issue where she’s so unstable, and blame her I do not, that she has had difficulty finding work. So wanted even more Bayo money and Royalties to cover that

There are voice actors that are integral to the product and likely get residuals.
Christopher Judge in God of War is likely one (the studio delayed the entire next game for him, personally). Ellen Page probably got a gigantic check for "Beyond Two Souls". The Last of Us 2 probably paid very big for it's VAs and I would not be shocked if royalties are on the table.
The "big names" in VA (Nolan North, Jen Hale, Tara Strong, Christopher Judge, Matt Mercer) probably do very well and for a sufficiently big project could ask for six figures + royalties and a studio making a ~$80,000,000 game wouldn't even blink.
Beyonetta 3 is not that kind of project and Taylor is quite clearly not a "big name" VA - but maybe she thought this was her shot and that Beyonetta was a franchise the size of God of War or something similar and decided to play hardball (only to lose out really big) and tried this desperation move to claw it all back.

That is a good point but Helena never seemed to really make it one. She threw other VA’s under the bus, and she is more of a theatre actor than a voice actor since the only thing in her career was Bayonetta (the only other notable role was Zorin in Hellsing but she was replaced for that).
Hell the fact she lied about her situation and never even put up receipts to begin with despite breaking NDA already. She has actively hurt the situation voice actors are in.
It doesn’t help this situation was because she felt entitled and wanted more money for herself. Only way Helena could salvage any credibility would be if she proved with evidence that both Kamiya and the Bloomberg article were lying.

I don't know of any reason why Schreier or VGC would lie and I presume they've vetted their source so it's very possible it's true but it's worth mentioning that these "sources" in this article are complete unverified outside of Schreier or this website. It's hard to take any of these claims seriously as game journalists and voice actors aren't exactly trustworthy or honest people.
As a side note, Kamiya getting bullied by twitter is fucking funny.

Why do people get so mad at a bald, Asian, spergy video game developer for telling English speakers to eat shit and blocking more than half of the people who say anything to him?
Like, it's one thing to be like "Kamiya's a clown for doing this", but some of you seem genuinely mad that he acts like this, and has been acting like this for years well before the current controversy.
Why does getting blocked by someone you already didn't like on Twitter matter so much to you?

You’re referencing Western productions as opposed to Eastern productions. Voice actors get a lot more famous doing games made in the US or Europe because they’re better ties to that character as opposed to having a Japanese voice actor be adjacent to him/her. Even Solid Snake has Hayter and Otsuka pitting against each other on who is the most recognizable in their respective regions.
This is also probably why many voice actors (Troy Baker, Laura Bailey, Steve Blum, Travis Willinghan, etc.) went from doing predominately anime and Japanese video games in the early 2000s to mostly American video games and cartoons later on. The market is just there for them, until it became more saturated.
That’s true, but at the same time, what do you do about that? When the VA strike happened a few years back, did that really help anyone? All we got was a more saturated market and people got fewer roles, replaced by people who are more theatre-oriented. These companies have lots of power when it comes to dubs and voice-overs, and I don’t want to sound like a corporate cuck, but I don’t think there’s a solution without a trade off, and these developers/publishers know that.
The voice acting doesn’t make or break the game’s success either. TC Carson being replaced by Christopher Judge as Kratos in the God of War games for motion capture purposes did not stop the new game from selling like gangbusters.

I'm not well-versed on how NDA works, but if the company itself is under NDA like Kamiya, then they can't show proof either (if its true). They're very likely just building up lawsuits behind-the-scenes. I'm still not picking a side until concrete evidence is show (if we get any), but Platimun's side is winning for the sole facts that Taylor didn't provide proof despite breaking NDA and union rates are publicly available, and sessions does add up to $4k which she basically said was insulting when that is how unioned VAs are supposed to be paid.
