Question. How does Ukraine winning benefit you?

Does it miraculously lower oil, energy, and gas prices? Does it restore the ammunition piles, economic aid, and rampant inflation caused by all of these countries printing money to give them?
Me in particular?
I have long position on Ukrainian agricultural enterprises.
Me as part of nation?
Over the years, there was seciurity concern, that pro-russian Ukrainan leader would invite russian army and invade Poland. Now it is not possible, as russian army is geting destoryed as well as Ukraine is fiercly pro-polish and anti-russian.
Ukraine passed law, that allows polish citizens special rights compared to all other foreigners and will get contracts for weapon shipments as well as many other examples of economic cooperation.
Many Ukrainians are in Poland, boosting our weak demographic situation.
Ukraine winning this war will probably cause globlal political shock that would result in regime change in Belarus, turning another country for west.
Rebuilding of Ukraine will be motor of economics growth for Poland for a couple of years.

Again it’s not about supporting something. You can support something and admit that it is flawed. Apparently that is too hard for you though
Wut? I know Ukrainians have their own propaganda as well as psych ops. Sometimes even they commit war crimes.

I just don't really mind it. Mainly because whatever shooting POW in knees is pale in comparison to what russia did to Mariupol.

Are you really that dumb? Yes, you can zoom in on the drone, if you know where it is. But how do you know where it is in the first place?

...and if you already know where it is, why not just point a cannon there? Have you never even used an optic on a rifle? Even in Call of Duty?
Do you know how radar works? To get accurate tracks, you use a thin beam and scan across the area you want to find contacts in.
If you use zoom and then sweep, you'll find contacts. You could even use two different optics, one for scanning and the other for tracking.
In fact, Russian fighter jets commonly use IRST, a technology that in its infancy used a rotating shutter to "scan" the sky in front of the aircraft. Modern tech has improved on these capabilities. Hell, the PLAAF J-16 (Su-35) went balls to the wall by switching MW IRST to LW IRST to get longer range at the cost of angular resolution, but use electro-optical tracking cued by the IRST to gain back accuracy.

It’s not about supporting Ukraine. It is about your blind zealotry. Just fuck off to reddit already if you want that kind of circlejerk faggot. You are literally drinking koolaid and proud of it what the fuck?
Elbereth at least sometimes makes valid points and shares interesting information. Partisan without doubt but people are allowed to be that. It's thread-shitters like the farter that everyone would be better without.

You know what? I can openly respect this point of view more than the "I'm not trying to be biased, but I totally am" takes.

It's better than people in the US who cheer it on only because the news told them to.

Ukraine is deeply flawed indeed. Severely so.
We could work towards fixing that by sending them as many long range missiles as possible, tanks, maybe some proper aircraft too, and some CIA glowniggie trainers.

People sometimes ask me how do I get my knowledge about what's happening in Ukraine, what are my sources etc. etc. I'm basically an office worker, I don't have background in any war related topics, my job is connected to economics, so I can sometimes have interesting insides about international markets. Friend of mine is expert on energy market, so sometimes he tells me interesting stuff.

However, in polish infosphere war in Ukriane is generally big fucking deal. Ukraine is a country next to Poland, almost every Polish know some Ukrainian because even before the war, there was lots of Ukrainians in Poland. Because of that a lot of so called public intellectuals in Poland are constanly talking about this war. You have mainstream media takes, which are typical mainstream media crap - lots of emotion, low amount of actual info.

But there is also good stuff, mostly on YouTube. One person that came up highly into popularity due to war in Ukraine is Jarosław Wolski.

He's professional OSINT analyst, used to take tasks on gathering intel on russia an belraus before invasion, so he was one of people who were sure that this war is going to happen. Other than that, he was military journalist. Witty humor and great knowledge give him peaks of popularity, he started YT channel which has 263k subs. It might sound unimpressive, unless you realize it is polish-speaking channel and there is ~40 million of Polish speakers. He releases like 2-3 videos per week, each 30min to 1,5h in length. Also, he isn't alone. He has multiple guests, but my favorite is colonel Piotr Lewandowski.
lewandowski.jpg
Former commander of the military base in Redzikowo, one of soliders who fought in Afghanistan. Overall smart, accomplished solider who often shares insights from his experience.

However, there are more channels, thSo at discusses war in Ukraine. Another would be Historia Realna, which has almost half a milion subs. In this channel there is purely interview content. However, choice of guest is high quality. Beyond usual civilian experts, there are quality generals like:
  • General Mieczysław Bieniek - former 4 star general
  • General of the branch Waldemar Skrzypczak - former 3 star general of land forces
  • Brigadier general Tomasz Drewniak - former 1 star general of air forces
  • Brigadier general Jarosław Kraszewski - former 1 star general of artillery and rocker forces
Those are people that polish-speaking population have opportunity to listen on a weekly basis. We get to hear opinion and thoughs of litteraly highest rank officers in our army. Many of english-speakers praise Perun. And don't get me wrong, he's a smart man, that knows what he's talking about. However, some civilians can't exactly compare to former 4 star general.

So that's why I don't link my sources. Because they are in polish, and translating 30min, or 1,5h video is way beyond what free time I could spare.

Careless smoking near important dam.
God, I hope not. Blowing up a dam, would not only kill thousands of people, but also make land inhabitable for a while. When a dam blows, it flows land with not only water, but also with ground, mud of what it flows. Also with corpses of dead animals and people, which then rot and release bacterial that taint surroundings.

Reservoir is also used to cool that one nuclear power plant.

Its defense in depth, look how it confirms to the river, Russia expects NATO has intentions to keep this war going indefinitely and is beginning to take steps to make it a hellish attritional battle for Ukraine if they want to continue offensive actions.
Defense in depth is what Ukraine did, and Russia doesn't seem to be able to do it. The Maginot Line 2.0 reeks of desperation, if it were defense in depth they would have a plan to retreat and withdraw to secondary defense lines, then tertiary defense lines, etc instead of a 2014 last resort fallback position.

This is a legit cargo cult applied to warfare. I might be missing something, but bulldozer blades on a tank would easily push these dragon's teeth aside. They're not anchored into the soil. They're between 100-150kg which is not a challenge for a >1000 HP tank.
I think the real distressing factoid here is that modern warfare is devolving back into World War 1 conditions
"WWI is when trenches" is one of the most annoying takes that propped up in this war. Probably tied with the "tank is obsolete".
Why don't we go back to how you were shitting yourself over the fact that Ukraine has modern NATO-provided MANPADs and other AA that cost millions of dollars of western taxpayer money and still could not do anything against a flying dorito powered by a moped engine? Tell me more how much of a great investment it was sending them all those Stingers.

When faced with examples you started blubbering about "oh it's not *truly* modern" in true mutt fashion.

RE: trillion-dollar weapon vs AK
The AK being a cheap weapon is a misconception from the late Cold War/Soviet breakup. AK surplus/parts kits hit the market at the same time that "muh assault weapons" fudds were a much larger percentage of the gun market in the US drove prices all the way down. Situations like the RAS47 and VSKA show that making a quality AK from scratch at a reasonable price is impossible - best they can do is a borderline pipebomb. The forging machines and dies are expensive, the stamping presses and dies are expensive, and the trunnion/bolt still need precision machining anyway.
The only way an AK is cheap is when you buy it from a country that doesn't exist anymore.
Well I'm not just talking about the super high tech stuff, but shit like engines, chassises, cannons, ammunition, rockets (sans guidance) etc. The decreased availability of microchips and rare earth minerals shouldn't be a that much of a problem for missile production since those mostly run very simple trigonometric calculations (meaning low-performance chips like the russian ones made without x-ray lithography should be enough) and mostly use single-use thermal batteries rather than rechargeable fancy ones.

Like, even simple trucks with off-road capability. Has either side increased production of even that?
The issue is that missiles have to run several functions at once. Terrain contour matching for cruise missiles, barometric and radar altitude, accelerometers and gyros for inertial navigation. It's not just simple trigonometry. You need integration and derivatives for a smooth missile turning ability or else you have to rely on "bang-bang" controls that simply deflect the control surfaces and make the missile wiggle its way towards the target.
Can you run a missile off arduino or raspberry pi? Sure. Amateur rocketry uses those. Can you expect reliability for combat use? No.
