There always tends to be at least a handful of troons in the comments who whinge that eliminating anonymity on the Internet threatens the lives of queer BIPOC trans folx, but sneer at the thought of something like Monero because it might be used to fund speech they don't like. Having taken a position on the issue, I would be surprised if EFF didn't at least file an amicus brief in cases hinging on the issue.

Maybe, but they seem laser-focused on government censorship only, so KF seems like exactly the kind of thing they'd sidestep. They are better than most other free speech orgs, but they do have weird takes sometimes.

That said, FIRE probably would listen to Null and be sympathetic but I would expect them to direct him to the EFF which is better positioned for what Null needs. Especially since the EFF has tech industry lawyers, FIRE's are more specifically First Amendment ones. There's a lot of overlap of issues there but someone in one area won't know the nuances and players as well as one in the other.

Just for the record, since everyone else seems to think so highly of the EFF, I myself have a very negative view of the EFF, and especially of their hardcore SJW #BelieveAllWomen director Jillian York. I would not recommend the EFF to anyone, especially someone like Joshua Moon with his personality and with a project like KiwiFarms. That's all I want to say about that for now.

Exactly. Many OGs here might remember the EFF from when they defended the hacker magazine 2600 against Universal who sued them for publishing DeCSS. That case was my introduction to the EFF when I was an adolescent first learning about censorship on the internet from Big Corporations. That EFF does not exist.
