Did I read somewhere that he had to get it towed to the shop? That ain't cheap either.
I remember him saying he got it towed from his garage to the shop which is like 15 minutes away. Best part of that rant is he claimed to have called his dad about it when this fucking asshole can't even bother to send his dad a happy Father's Day call or answer his emails. Dave Burnell doesn't deserve this retard of a son and I hope he already removed Phil from the will.

DSP you're on the internet, you beg, there is no punching down. You are not above criticism. One thing I've been pointing out lately with most lolcows between boogie and dsp, is they cry broke and they sit in their fairly furnished nice home while surrounded by thousands and thousands of dollars worth of merchandise. DSP even having a bankruptcy clear his name but is still not enough. And retards still want to give their money away to these individuals. They -the paypig- reward them for doing nothing, literally.

Yup, the towing was $200 iirc. He fell into a $1100 car "repair" scam. $70 for an oil change, $240 for a new battery, $100 here and there for them turning their computer on a few times, $550 FOR A SET OF FOUR SPARK PLUGS when he probably didn't even need to change one of them (and a whole set for a Corolla costs $30, lmao). They also tried scamming him for an additional $800 for a set of ignition coils (they got some chutzpah on them I gotta give them that). He acted so smart and proud of himself when he told them not to replace the ignition coils, apparently even Papa Burnell congratulated his failure of a son for spotting that scam, the same failure of a son who can't immediately diagnose a dead battery, ask a neighbor to jump-start his car, drive to some place where they sell car batteries and change it for a new one in the shop's parking lot (literally 3 minutes of work) :story:

I repeat, along with overcharging the fuck out of him for changing the car battery and turning on the diagnostic software a few times, they scammed him for $550 to change the full set of spark plugs on a car that probably didn't even clear 10k miles yet, when spark plugs are designed to last over 100k before needing to be changed, all because this lazy nigger doesn't have the word "maintenance" in his vocabulary and didn't change his car battery (it's a 2017 Corolla and car batteries usually last 4-6 years, do the (forbidden) math), and because he can't even immediately diagnose how a car behaves when you try to start it up on a dead battery.

As soon as I heard him bitch about his car not starting and what was happening when he tried starting it I immediately knew that the battery was gone. I will admit that it's really difficult to listen to DSP without tuning out multiple times but I think I caught him saying that the tow truck guy told him that it's not the battery but also something else. Dude was in on the fucking scam and to be honest who wouldn't scam this complete retard? Imagine you drive up to a dude in a stained Super Mario t-shirt and Zelda jammies bitching about his car not starting, you could spot that mark from a mile away. It's like driving up to a clueless rich white girl with car problems, you know you've basically got carte blanche to scam the absolute shit out of them. I am surprised they didn't charge him a few hundred for blinker fluid replacement though :story:

The plugs were $68.99 ea for a total of $275.96. And the only proof that the tow was $200 is Phail's word.
muh iridium spark plugs tho, copper is for peasants, only the most expensive will do for mama burnell's baby boy

EDIT: they convinced ppb that he needed new spark plugs because they had water damage, when spark plugs are literally airtight, or the internal park of internal combustion engine wouldn't be fulfilled. That's how they tried to get him on the spark plug wires, which I'm not convinced he didn't buy.

EDIT2: BBS saying $550 to change a set of plugs, not just the components needed, still have to bull the old ones out, and on some cars, the set of plugs that face the firewall are real motherfuckers, so the $550 prolly includes the labor, just like a battery replacement will come with a fee if you want someone to do it for you, unless you have AAA and buy one from them, it comes with the exorbitant price of the battery (around $300 for an 09 impala) but they deliver the fucker to you and take the old one with them for the core, so you don't have to pay the stupid refundable core fee from autozone etc.

If those spark plugs were almost $70 per piece then they better be fucking encased in emeralds. I looked up the price for a single spark plug for a '17 Corolla and the prices range from $10 to $14.

Plus that's not even my point, my point isn't that he got overcharged on a basic tune-up, my point is that he got completely scammed on parts that he didn't need to replace at all.

Yeah so much has happened but it's basically the same shit every time. Him raging about getting scammed by the closest autoshop because he can't do basic car maintenance is fucking hilarious though.
The most hilarious thing is that everytime something breaks in the Burnelli household, it is something that Khet uses on regular basis (or rather more often than Dave himself).
At first the garbage disposal in the sink, then the shower, vacuum cleaner, dishwasher and now the car :story:
So either she wants him to buy new stuff or is too fucking retarded to use household appliances correctly.

The new TV shit was great. It's just funny watching someone who literally went bankrupt with over 200k in debt due to poor financial choices and accumulation of huge credit card debt - being so excited about a payment plan where he ends up overpaying for a TV that is probably too expensive for him to buy (according to his logic - daily groceries have been expensive recently, but we don't mind paying extra for the 'they'll take it upstairs guys' premium TV plan.)

Judging what we know about his knowledge of cars (not changing the oil in 5 years etc.), I wouldn't be surprised if he got scammed and didn't realise it.

Funniest part was him bitching about lag and shit the instant he tries to move on a menu with his controller. Legit prepping his lag excuses before he even played a game. Some true classic DSP stuff.

Looking forward to the blown head gasket arc.

With modern fuel management systems, spark plugs last a long damn time. If the spark plugs are so bad that it causes a no-start, you would be able to see how bad they are and the car would run like absolute crap leading up to it. I believe that vehicle has Coil on Plugs, which means that every plug has it's own little coil. I believe he said they tried to sell him a set of wires as well? THERE ARE NO SPARK PLUG WIRES ON A COIL ON PLUG SYSTEM. The coils sit directly on top of the plugs and there is a rubber boot that rests on the plug. I've worked on cars with 300k miles that never needed a new coil. Usually when they go bad it's because the boot tore and the spark is being shorted, or the plastic, on top is cracked and the innards are getting corroded.

When Phil first described what his symptoms were (badly of course) my first guess was, battery or fuel pump went out. Battery was the most likely since it's infinitely more common. ANother guess would be that they simply ran out of gas. I have seen this at least twice in my life. Someone drives their car on E. It runs completely fine, park it somewhere with just a TEENY bit of an incline and it doesn't start up.

I've looked at his invoice and the numbers are weird. Universally, an oil change pays .3 hours. You should be able to determine their hourly rate with that, but they charged like $5 bucks for the oil change. They charged him a $20 core charge for a battery replaced in the shop? That's money you get back when you return your old battery. Computerized engine analysis? You mean OBDII scan? But they did that already for free...it's labelled as code scan Dashboard light, and if you have a no start condition, you're going to have codes and almost none of them will actually help you. The fuel induction cleaning is a common grift, I've even done a few after people have asked for them. I never recommended them though. Corrosion protection service is another grift unless your battery posts are covered in that nasty fuzz. Even then, you can do that yourself. If they are using standard labor op times then that would mean that they are charging about $130 and hour, which is also pretty standard.

Phil did what he always does when he makes a purchase. He let the salesman pile on extras, when he could have paid a couple hundred bucks and got his wife to work that day. Even the tow was unnecessary, if he knew the most basic things about cars, and he had a friend who could jump it for him.

If this were me in that situation, I send Kat to work in an Uber, replace the battery myself and spend the other grand on Hogan Jpeg pulls.

Funniest part was where his dents gave him enough to buy it outright, then he gets a payment plan and pockets the rest. So that's the TV added to the list of big bills he's got coming up.

He could have gotten the same tv, but a little smaller for the money they gave him, but he had to get it from Amazon so he could not only get it delivered but get it delivered next day. Then he has to pay extra money to have them bring it up the stairs for him. Phil is the guy who walks on a car lot and the salesman light the hell up. Classic mark.

It was just an old battery, car batteries only last 4 or 5 years, if the car is a 2017 then it was about time to swap it. Can be done for around $200 and they swap it for free in an auto parts store.

Spark plugs where OEM, i'm sure, they should have lasted another 40k miles or so, he just outright got fleeced on that.

OIC's been owning the trolls hard, though, so it's not really a problem for DSP right now.

Forgot about this during the TV debacle.

Phil Burgera was never the same after Rambo Dunn died.

Lol if his spark plugs had water damage his engine would be hydro locked.

Higher end NGK Iridium spark plugs can get really expensive, but those are for highly modified turbo cars to prevent spark blowout. A spark plug job on a simple FWD Corolla should take no more than 45 minutes, and with parts and tools, probably $50-$60.

Will his car even run with a dead battery after a jump? I learned the hard way a few weeks ago that that's a thing when my car's battery died at work. Dies immediately when the jumper cables are disconnected. Fuck Chrysler. Whoever thought that design choice was a good idea can burn in hell.

Best part about the car repair saga was his attempt at an Uno Reverse. "Ack ack, this was all a big experiment guiz!! I got you!!!"

Yeah, I feel so stupid. Phil spent over a grand on repairs he didn't need, and people did what everyone knew they would do and tried to verify it. Ooohh, ouch. It hurts. I'm punching air right now.

You can actually start a car and remove the battery, and it'll keep running. It's not a good idea (puts a heavy load on the generator), but yes, the car will run with a basically dead battery if it is already running. If your car dies after unhooking the cables then you might have a bum generator (used to be called an alternator)
