...So this little Medium article was brought to my attention when I got back from work:

Who is Natalie O’Brien and does she exist?

Apparently, this particular Medium article was written by an angry former Patreon sponsor of Brianna Wu's, who posted anonymously to protect themselves (and their sources) from retaliation.

The TL;DR: The writer of this article stumbled upon the evidence that Natalie isn't real, consulting several colleagues about it, and no one was able to collaborate Natalie's existence. Over $30,000 to pay for the salary of someone who doesn't exist is a pretty tall order, and the Medium article then goes on to warn others - unless the proof of Natalie's existence emerges, Wu's Patreon is most likely a scam.

This take-down is brutal. It encapsulates a lot of what we gathered on Brianna Wu and Natalie O'Brien, but it also adds stuff we flat-out didn't have, like the responses by Emma Clarkson over whether or not Natalie was even real or not. This plus the allegations that other Wu employees have disputed Natalie's existence means this whole thing just got a whole lot more interesting.

A better journalist than Wu will ever manage to be.

I thought that it was largely agreed upon that Natalie was a fictional construct in the same vein as the Socially Unconcious inker? I am moderately certain I have seen these tweets and other bits of information before now, and this has been put into a rather neatly written article.

What might make this worth it is the possibility that Wu will be super salty and use her super journalistic/"backchannel" skills to find out who wrote this misogynistic, bigoted and offensive writing, since they claim they work in the same professional circles as her.

Place your bets, everyone. Jessie Singal? He did commit thought crimes against trannykind after all.

We've more or less assumed Natalie is a made-up person as soon as the name started showing up. There has never, ever been a speck of anything resembling evidence that this person exists.

What really strikes me about Flynt is the things he chooses to lie about.
Why make up a completely fictional person?
It's just dumb. People will discover it.
Lying about a degree?
Is dumb, but less likely to be exposed. But she created not one but two fictional people (hi baby O'Brien) and arguably a third since someone had to donate sperm.
Why?
It's not like he needs the money from patreon. He could have received enough asspats from just the standard woman in tech spiel on patreon.

Beautiful.

like the responses by Emma Clarkson over whether or not Natalie was even real or not.

We've had these before. ETA: https://kiwifarms.net/threads/brianna-wu-john-flynt.6034/page-190#post-648480

They say:
The only response I got was from someone who had never heard of Natalie O’Brien or a pregnant employee at GSK at all.

This person may have overplayed. We know Amanda was pregnant at some point, and she can be trotted out.

How long until someone links that article to Wu, and how long until it gets taken down? Over/Under
numbers here, folks.

The adults who do takedowns have gone home. Brianna will spend the whole night freaking out and demanding backchannels. When an adults gets into work tomorrow morning and sees the shitstorm they'll pull the article, figuring that will end it.

EDIT:

John is going to cream deposit crotch blood in his panties in glee over this:

There's nothing private on the Patreon. We found that out during the Patreon dump. Wu hadn't even logged in for months. Just as long as the money keeps on coming she's okay.

If the third one goes, I would legit start looking at the parenting methods and genetic history of that family because something is clearly fucked up.

Although I think this could be an attempt at gaining forgiveness for The Matrix Revolutions.
Well Revolutions was bad, but not bad enough to cut your dick off in order to gain forgiveness...

...Jupiter Ascending was.
This just convinced me that Wu would make good Captain Planet villain.
All mockeries aside, I kind of wonder if Brianna is still battling the demons that John's own instabilities brought up. It would explain the need to try and project increasingly farcical demons on every person who so much as slights them and to continue to behave in paranoid ways, and to hide the past at all costs.
Of course she is. Wu is wearing a mask with nothing behind it worth mentioning and never acknowledges her past or her mistakes. The only success Wu has had was playing the tough, know-it-all, female game designer who is harassed by GooberGabber. She wants to keep that facade up as long as possible, because I don't think she has anything else to feel confident about in her life.

However, I wonder what that episode of "The Internet Hurt my Feefees" will do to her Patreon and her standing in... well whatever community she is standing in.

I don't won't to spoil the fun, but the Twitter name of the guy who claims he has donated to Brianna Wu's patreon seems to be "Rapebert Shekelstein", that doesn't sound like someone who would donate anything to Wu. We might want to take that story with a grain of salt.

Definitely. Magic bath that changes you into a pretty girl, but only if you start as a middle-aged woman? Guess whose fantasy that was?

That was the person in the Tweet-thread w/Emma, but I don't think he's claiming to have written the article.

There is a non-zero chance that a real journalist will follow up on this, and ask to talk to the author and ask to see evidence that he's actually donated to the Patreon, and then pursue an actual journalism story. So I hope he didn't make it up. But I suspect he has. At least Wu can't easily deny it.

EDIT: Also, if the author is reading this, fix the end of paragraph 3. kthx.

Natalie's existence was doubted before we even knew her name. I remember when Wu first started claiming that she gets so much harassment that she hired someone to handle her twitter for her. The problem was that previously and awhile after that Wu had stated she's the only person who handled her twitter account.

I have no idea if Natalie was a made up character that existed prior to this but it was a pretty bad idea for Wu to give the fictional person a name and then start mentioning that her patreon pays her. If it had remained a nameless employee then nobody would have cared because it'd just be another Wu lie. Now it could actually be a big deal if someone raises enough of a stink.

It always leads back to this.

Do we have proof that it was this user?
