I hope it's true, but as has been pointed out, when the only source for the 'auto-immune disease making me blind' is the same man who claims to be both a woman and a group of people in one body, I have doubts. It's plausible, but it's also very in-character to lie about having a disease that just so happens to make spending all his time on the internet harassing people an even more heroic, self-sacrificing act.
Just piping in to say never forget that mere stupidity and cowardice can also explain a lot. That, and faggotry.
I think we should stop giving this creature credit for what's happening. There's clearly some higher ups involved in these machinations - and this thing is a convenient figurehead.
Again, while it's plausible that there's higher-ups involved because we know for a fact that this is the sort of shit they do regularly, it is also possible for it to be something they merely benefit from, rather than have a hand in. Either way Fong-Jones deserves far less credit than he wants, but it's not like a few dozen troons whining to companies that if they don't stop [x] they're evil hasn't been shown to be a woefully effective tactic in the past.
For that matter, as far as I can recall there's not been any consequences for Big Tech making value judgements over what gets to be online so far. Payment processors, the large social media platforms, Cloudflare, ISPs - none of them have had to ever answer the question, 'If you're taking this offline, why aren't you taking off these far, far worse things?' People, not just posters here, have repeatedly pointed out that all these people have services denied to them while stuff like CP and ISIS get to stay - both far more heinous and, more importantly, against the law than somewhere like the Farms.
Now, we know in part that's because the US government is involved in that process. But that also doesn't mean that it can't just be the usual pattern of 'company avoids bad publicity from troons by yeeting site with nono words on it'. Defending unpopular speech is no longer cool and they've never gotten in trouble for throwing off 'evil' people before, so what's one more?
Again, it's not to say there isn't behind the scenes shit going on, involving, say, Fong-Jones' (likely exaggerated) wealth, or more valuably some Pritzker-level billions and/or ESG scores, as well as governmental politics. But there's far too much precedent for screeching on Twitter getting corporations to do dumb shit that has terrible implications to not also be plausible. A mob formed, bullshit was used as an excuse to do something wrong, and then most people moved on, conveniently ignoring the consequences of their actions - could be glowies, could be Tuesday.
