Horrible attempt to mimic the old Coke commercial for Frankenstein's monster and makes no sense at all, if anything the first two seconds is how I think Sloth actually walks:

A bit late to responding but if he wasn't just another corrupt and power-hungry lapdog for the Dems I'd feel bad for him. He's actually retarded and these ads have such low production values it feels like those literalwho independents candidates who run in local elections. I wonder if this is actual retardation, the Democrats trying to aim for a pity vote, or if they're intentionlly putting no effort in the advertising because they know they will win one way or another.

In other news Manchin is finding out just how badly he fucked himself signing onto that BBB-lite bill earlier this year. Old Joe has come out promising to shut down all coal power plants:

Manchin to his credit realizes what this does to his future plans:

Nothing like hubris and getting hoisted by your petard. I'd wager Manchin is really regretting not sticking to his principles back in the summer.
Reminder, he signed onto the lite form after he was promised more funding for coal, -never added it to the bill-, and is now surprised that they are actively working against it.

The man grabbed the idiot ball in a death grip.

The democrats won't last in West Virginia. They ran the show back in the Robert C. Byrd KKK days, but for a politician to thrive they must be pro-gun and pro-coal. Today's DNC has made their entire platform around totally annihilating those two industries. To some extent, the democrats see WV as a source of young blue voters that are willing to relocate to purple areas in other states to sway their vote.

CURSE YOUR SUDDEN, OBVIOUS, AND INEVITABLE BETRAYAL!

You would think that he would have expected this.
Here's the thing, I know for a fact his analysts were warning him they -were- going to. But Manchin -insisted- that a gentleman's agreement would stand. He absolutely insisted that it would hold. The man just... completely lost touch with reality somehow.

It's like the old saying goes: If you sleep with dogs, you'll wake up with fleas.

While I generally agree with the sentiment in what you're saying, I would argue that some turns of phrase and even some syntax and punctuation have opened the door to a lot of "living constitution" type arguments.

I mean, a fairly large amount of debate has occurred around a single comma in the 2nd Ammendment and whether it represents a separate statement about the right to bear arms or if it refers to that right pertaining to use in an organized militia. That's just a singular example among others.

I would say that the founding fathers couldn't have possibly predicted the ways in which the initial texts would have been undermined by bad actors. Additionally, they lacked the highly specific legalese used today in order to prevent fuckery by willful misunderstanding.
Yeah and that's a disingenuous argument and those making it know it. Writing it better would not have solved this issue.
Just remember, law faggots now are so goddamn pendantic and annoying that we had a president say "That depends on what the definition of is is."

Reminder that an argument about slavery in Congress was shut down because someone stated that if the slaves were freed, then they would be able to acquire guns because of the 2nd Amendment.

Everyone understood it as an individual clause back then, so the people now aren’t even willfully misunderstanding it, they’re just trying to make you adopt an outright lie.

Ron DeSantis allegedly partied with his high school students 20 years ago when he was a teacher

This article is a dumb, fun read.
“Mr. Ron, Mr. DeSantis, was mean to me and hostile toward me,” said Ms. Pompey, who graduated in 2003. “Not aggressively, but passively, because I was Black.”
Ms. Minis, who is white and was in the same history class as Ms. Pompey, also remembers debating issues around the Civil War. Mr. DeSantis wasn’t so much politically opinionated, she said, but, in her view, factually wrong. She remembers him claiming that every city in the South had burned, even though she knew her hometown, Savannah, had not and she called him out on it.
Bringing up Savannah in particular is funny since it was only spared because the citizens surrendered and Confederates fled in fear of General Sherman destroying the city, as he was known to do.

Several students recalled that Mr. DeSantis was a frequent presence at parties with the seniors who lived in town.
Two former students, both women, remembered him attending at least two parties where alcohol was served, but they said that the parties took place after graduation and that they were not bothered by his presence at the time, although they question it now. “It was his first job out of Yale, he was cute. We didn’t really think too much about it,” one of the former students said.
Lame and inappropriate but not very damning. I'm going to guess he was invited each time.

Two other students remembered a prank involving Mr. DeSantis and a student who had bragged about how much milk he could drink.
They said Mr. DeSantis challenged the boy to guzzle as much milk as he could in one sitting. The boy did, and threw up as dozens of students watched.
This is just funny and one of the oldest pranks in the book. We've all known "that guy" who brags about dumb shit for no reason.
Not that a teacher should be the one invoking the challenge but again, inappropriate yet not really that big of a deal.

As a teacher, Mr. DeSantis “was able to hone our minds to at least show that with hard work comes results,” he said. “I know a few of us weren’t the greatest; with his guidance we became good baseball players and better people.”
Surprised they'd include this.

All in all it just makes him sound like he was a cocky son of a bitch who worked hard and played hard who hadn't figured out professional boundaries yet or just didn't care since it was a relatively short gig for him before going back to school. Cocky Ivy League guy is a douchebag, more at 10.

That is the worst they could dig up/fabricate on him?
Lol, he must be a fucking saint. Sorry but I don't think this is something that will move the needle.
This is just fucking sad: it's the exact playbook they did on Drumpf and Kavanaugh. And just like those two, it'll fail spectacularly.

He's a longtime insider a la Biden, perhaps he thought however many decades of working together actually meant something when it came to a gentleman's agreement, or that Biden had anywhere near the influence within his own administration to enforce such an agreement.
