Just Stop Oil - A conglomerate of unwashed, pseudoscience-pedalling, virtue-signalling, middle-class cunts.

This is a meaningless statement. Nothing short of going back to the 19th century would satisfy their demands.

As this group seems to mainly consist of upper-class twats, they would benefit greatly from a return to the 19th century - they would probably demand their estates and serfs back.

I'd also say they flatter themselves when they call their activities "civil disobedience". Civil disobedience only works if the majority of the population is willing to join in (a good recent example is the campaign against motorway "e-tolling" in South Africa where most people refused to register for the toll system or pay the tolls. Even so, it took 7 years to force the government to capitulate and abolish the system).

What this group is doing is more like low-tier terrorism which just pisses the public off.

Just Stop Oil campaign makes Christmas its next target

Protesters say they will continue to put themselves in harm's way as 'nothing has worked so far'

Despite campaign group Just Stop Oil pausing protest action after a month of disruption, the protestors warned more is to come around the festive period. More protests are planned for Christmas in a move that could trigger furious reactions from festive shoppers.

The campaign group previously blocked roads in London and glued themselves to tarmac and targeted buildings and famous paintings. This week however Just Stop Oil said it was willing to pause disruption to give the Government time to "consider their responsibilities to this country

Activists have given ministers until the end of tomorrow to respond to their calls for new oil and gas licences to be halted. If it does not get a response by then, its activities will be "escalated".

More disruption will arrive around Christmas that will "continue in Civil Resistance until the government stops harming us, the ordinary everyday people of this country". Tough the protesters are "worried" they will continue to put themselves in harm's way as "nothing has worked so far" to meet their objectives.

A Just Stop Oil spokesperson told Express.co.uk : "There is no longer any ceiling on our weather, on what the next storm will bring, the next rainfall. I think people should plan for disruption, and not just at Christmas.

"What do you think will be the correct action to take against a Government that is planning the deaths of millions, planning for the end of ordered civil society. The ordinary people who support Just Stop Oil are worried about their safety, this is the reason why they act.

"Nothing so far has worked to end new oil and gas, to end the grip of the huge oil companies, to end the destitution they are causing, to end the cost of living crisis."

On Tuesday, the campaign group announced a pause to 32 consecutive days of action after trying to climb the gates of Downing Street and blocking roads surrounding Trafalgar Square.

The group said: "From today Just Stop Oil will pause its campaign of civil resistance. We are giving time to those in the Government who are in touch with reality to consider their responsibilities to this country at this time.

"If, as we sadly expect, we receive no response from ministers to our demand by the end of Friday November 4, we will escalate our legal disruption against this treasonous Government. Our action will be proportionate to the task of stopping the crime against humanity which is new oil and gas."

In scenes from the last four weeks, activists were dragged away by officers towards police vans as members of the public looked on. Armed officers stopped some protesters from jumping over the smaller gate and removed a woman who was climbing up the main gate to where Prime Minister Rishi Sunak lives and works.

A Just Stop Oil spokesman said: "Rishi Sunak is about to U-turn on attending COP27. We demand that he also U-turn on new oil and gas. This genocidal policy will kill millions of people while failing to address the worst cost-of-living crisis this country has ever seen."

The Metropolitan Police said: "Two Just Stop Oil protesters who crossed over the outer vehicle gates on the Whitehall side of the main gates of Downing Street were swiftly prevented from climbing the main gates by police officers present.

Just Stop Oil don’t need you to like them

Not here to be loved

The hate and vitriol Just Stop Oil faced after throwing soup over a Van Gough painting has been immense. Here they explain why it won’t deter them.

‘Get out of the way, you fucking cunts!’

Language like this, and even acts of physical aggression, have been directed daily at the Just Stop Oil supporters who spent October blocking roads, throwing soup on paintings and spraying orange paint all over London’s shrines to power and wealth.

I am one of the Just Stop Oil supporters who threw soup at Van Gogh’s Sunflowers painting in the National Gallery on October 14th. I know exactly how it feels to be a target of this rage.

I still remember the tone one of the gallery curators took as he walked up to myself and my fellow Just Stop Oil supporter Phoebe Plummer while we were – for better or for worse – glued to the wall. He spat the words “fucking stupid bitches” at us. Of all the times that I have been yelled at while sitting on roads; of all the slurs, insults and threat that have been thrown my way, that one hurt the most.

One middle-to-upper-class gentleman, in his velvet blazer and corduroy trousers, making two young people the target for his contempt – it really stung. He wanted to hurt me and he wanted to hurt Phoebe.

Just Stop Oil supporters aren’t just the targets of public hatred during actions. We also get endless abuse online and in large tranches of the media, who’ve vented their rage in fantasies such as leaving Just Stop Oil supporters stuck to Van Gogh’s Sunflowers like medieval prisoners in the dock.

So why are Just Stop Oil persevering with actions that generate such intense hostility?

Look around you. Our social and environmental support systems are collapsing. People are dying on every continent – starving, drowning, burning. 33 million people forced from their homes by the Pakistan floods. 146 million struggling to feed themselves in sub-Saharan Africa. 3000 excess deaths during the summer heatwave right here in the UK.

With this context in mind, do our actions really seem disproportionate? On the contrary, they’re a minor annoyance compared to the catastrophe that’s speeding towards us. If you walk past a burning house and see a child trapped inside, do you write a letter to the fire brigade? No, you smash a window and jump inside to help. We’re facing exactly that situation on a planetary scale.

Given the magnitude of the crisis we face, it’s not that weird that people are blocking roads and throwing soup at great masterpieces. What’s more weird is that we aren’t all doing that, every second of the day.

So what’s needed most urgently now are dramatic acts of public awakening. Huge statements that embody the crisis we are in. We need to provoke and disturb. If that takes the form of people jumping out of their cars, shouting and swearing, and dragging us out of the road, good. At the historical juncture we’ve reached, silence and indifference are far more dangerous than outbursts of road rage from passers-by.

We’re not trying to win everyone over or attract converts to ‘our cause’ (as the press like to call it). Its government action we’re interested in – and we have one game plan only: to get them to end new oil and gas now.

If they feel people care enough about ending oil and gas, they’ll do it. But, and this is the counter-intuitive part, people don’t have to like Just Stop Oil to hear our message about the destruction we’re facing. It’s clear that people can separate the message from the messenger – supporting the cause, while objecting to the methods used in its service.

You’ll hear this separation repeated over and over in the media. ‘Just Stop Oil are doing their cause a disservice’. ‘Their cause may be noble, but the methods are a disgrace.’ ‘The message is right but the tactics are wrong’.

This separation will work for us in the end. The more we act, the more people hear the message: that new oil and gas will bring death and destruction to us all. We’ll do whatever it takes, non-violently, to get this reality across.

We know that people can and do hate the messenger but still absorb the message. And the more people hear it and feel it, the more pressure the government will come under to act.

It’s a paradoxical strategy, for sure. It goes against the conventional wisdom that says you need to be popular to be influential in the world. And it’s easy to be sceptical of logic that challenges us, and ideas that take us out of our comfort zone.

But here history is our guide, our comfort, and our true North. So many movements have used the same logic to achieve their aims – the Suffragettes, the Freedom Riders in the US, the women of Greenham Common and the pioneers of LGBTQ emancipation.

Like us, they were hated at first. Then they won, and became heroes. Many were in prison – and then statues were put up to them in Parliament Square. For some of these groups it took decades to turn around the public hatred they faced at first. But for others, it can happen within months – like Insulate Britain, who were insulted and hated, until politicians and establishment journalists started saying they were right after all.

It may even be the same for us. That thought keeps me going through the abuse and the insults. When I think back to that day in the gallery, the curator’s words still hurt. But at Just Stop Oil we have a strength and purpose that can overcome anything.

:story: No fucking way these niggas just compared themselves to... actually most of these weren't even good things for society. Still, I can smell the unwarranted self importance and narcissism through my monitor.

Yes we are in a crisis for several reasons. The solution is the opposite of what they want, beefing up oil production.

Imagine being so retarded that you don't realize that it's YOUR ideology that is to blame for the energy crisis, people freezing to death, people starving, etc.

They were cutting off our oil supply BEFORE the crisis, they think the solution is to completely eliminate it?!

JSO and Extinction Rebellion are partially funded by a Getty oil fortune heiress, Aileen Getty, which actually puts their idiotic stunts into perspective. While I believe that some of JSO's members are fully on board with completely eliminating oil/petroleum (by)products as fuel sources, I think that JSO being funded by an oil heiress is a surreptitious way to erode public goodwill to climate activism in general.

That is, when JSO does dumb publicity stunts in the name of climate activism, people will tend to start being more inured to the topic of climate change in general. This is because the first thing people will think of when the topic of climate change/activism comes up would be JSO, as their antics are still fresh in the minds of many people.

An interesting fact about the Getty family besides the whole Aileen Getty funding JSO and Extinction Rebellion thing is that her brother is Mark Getty is the co-founder of Getty Images, a stock photo and video juggernaut of the digital world. Don't think it has to do with anything but its an fascinating connection given the antics of the groups Aileen Getty funds.

Black propaganda or not, the fact remains is that Malthusian/misanthropic environmentalism is to blame for what's going on with energy shortages, people freezing to death, and famine.

We may or may not needed that help to discredit that bullshit, but then again, is it really cheating when your enemy is retarded enough to adopt oil companies' black propaganda as their own?

Their tactics are definitely retarded, as the paintings are protected (which, in fairness, they appear to deliberately only go after ones that have protected glass on them); but they are accomplishing their goal of bringing attention.

Just kind of sucks that these stunts get talked about on the internet, but when someone literally immolated themselves in front of the US Supreme Court building in protest of the climate crisis back in 2022, it was only talked about for maybe two or three days on twitter before people moved on, and no media deliberately reported on it, so as to prevent awareness of it and potentially causing a copycat situation.

Can you imagine if they pulled this stunt in Countries where they lop your hands off (usually for stealing)? Lop their hands off, then what will they glue next? Barbaric but might be effective.

Oil heiress giving to this. lol living with Aids. Isn't her brother or was it Uncle that was kidnapped back in the 70s (and ear cut off) as well?

This is wholly because JSO actively go to the press to get themselves mentioned. Roger "wife-swapping" Hallam has been getting teenagers to do his dirty work for years and he certainly knows how to market them to a mainstream demographic.

The attention is misguided and I think JSO get very caught up on this. Just because people are talking about you, doesn't mean they are listening. Look at this forum, we listen to countless schizos' unhinged views and we talk about them but we are fully aware that what they're saying is stupid and we don't actually believe it.

What do these people have against paintings specifically, anyway? They could get the same reaction by defacing or gluing themselves to a monument. They should have gone old-school and chained themselves to pipelines or trees. At least their protest methods would have made some degree of sense. Even the people who glued themselves to the Volkswagen showroom floor and got left in the dark (and complained about not being given a bucket to defecate in) while security closed up the building had more sense and balls than these people.

I'm grateful that the paintings themselves aren't harmed, though. It's most likely because they know they would face prison time for causing thousands of dollars of damage (good restorations are tedious and work-intensive - check out Baumgartner Restoration on YouTube if you want a better idea) if they actually glued their hands to the canvas itself or used something else other than soup to damage the paintings.

The funny part is that these guys are so toxic that even other tree-huggers don't want to associate with them. This TikTok has been making the rounds, accusing them of being plants made to make environmentalists look bad:
"God, and they put the fucking two most gay looking motherfuckers and most annoying looking motherfuckers to do it."
🤣

Tree hugger or not, this woman is as good as gold. We need to protecc her.

What do these people have against paintings specifically, anyway?
... They are aware that the oils used for paintings and the oils used for fuel are two different things, right?

Right?

I know the latter is most likely facetious, but this segues into a very relevant point: their protest is not against the painting itself. Neither is it necessarily against the transport networks that they block with their antics (environmentalists hate cars, but XR have also been known to block railways). In either case, their target is chosen because they know that doing these things will make them newsworthy, which makes their message travel further.

It is essentially the left-wing equivalent of a pol-tard shooting up a classroom to guarantee mass-media coverage of his terrorist manifesto. In both cases, the primary target is not the physical thing being attacked (paintings, transport – or people in the case of a shooter). Those things are acceptable collateral, but what the attacker wanted most of all was to send out a Message that the rest of the world would hear together.

Given the magnitude of the crisis we face, it’s not that weird that people are blocking roads and throwing soup at great masterpieces. What’s more weird is that we aren’t all doing that, every second of the day.
And this right here is the real salient part.

Given how the media tends to doom-monger about climate and saying we have a 12-year deadline to prevent irreversible catastrophic damage to the only planet we have – to anyone who sincerely believes all that, the actions that these activist groups are taking would be a completely proportionate response. The press may not necessarily believe their own lies, but the useful idiot activists most definitely do.

And if you believe governments+corpos around the world are slowly applying pressure to the proverbial red button that ends all life on earth, ANY action aimed at stopping this beomes morally justifiable. I'm surprised they no one's actually killed anyone for the cause (besides himself lol). But this dovetails very nicely with what the activist in one of the videos was saying, that he doesn't want to be doing this. Some of these fucks really do believe they have no choice.
