Community Munchausen's by Internet (Malingerers, Munchies, Spoonies, etc) - Feigning Illnesses for Attention

I work with a munchie that's pretending to be mute right now. It's been a month and will continue for at least a month more, or until she gets "scoped." She's mentioned Ehlers-Danlos in the past which sent up the earliest red flag and I've been scrutinizing her for this nonsense for almost eight months ever since she offhandedly said she might go on testosterone.

It's becoming intolerable. How do I deal with this bullshit?
Post milk or GTFO this isn't a support group.

Can't believe Rose got her trache. She's a moron, they're so much work and so gross . If she has to keep the cuff up while it's healing, she won't be able to talk without a speech valve, which also means not being connected to any CPAP. Which will just illustrate she never really needed it.

Getting a trache for CPAP/BiPAP whatever is usually because either you can't safely maintain an airway (not her) or you're not able to ventilate well with just non-invasive ventilation because you need higher pressures/support (eg. something progressive like

(Someone please correct me if I'm wrong, it's been a little while since I've looked after new traches).

Rose explicitly chose a tracheostomy becsue she didn't like the look of the nose hose which she also admitted she chose for its aesthetic.

More Evie stuff. She really seems to be ramping up the PANDAS identity. No one has really heard of it, so now that she can’t get away with being the poster girl for TikTok Tourette’s, she seems to be angling to be TikTok’s #1 PANDAS advocate.

Doing a slow, ambling walk towards the camera, feet dragging and turned inwards. Bonus bent wrist. If you’ve ever seen the movie Shaun of the Dead, she looked a bit like one of the zombies in that.

Making sure everyone can see how severe her wrist contracture is. Using the phrase “lucky fin” is particularly bizarre because I’ve only ever seen it used over the years by parents of little kids born with limb differences. It’s cute. Let’s face it, kids with missing limbs/deformed limbs are going to have to deal with a ton of shit in their lives. Let them have their cute little name. But no, Evie is co-opting that.

When Evie isn’t walking like a zombie, washing her lucky fin and being pushed in a wheelchair like a proper invalid

She likes to do this

Apparently PANDAS is indistinguishable from any other munchie affliction: it comes in “flares”. How convenient! You can carry on your previous munching (with Tourette’s, with FND) using the same language as before!

Comments are interesting: you got this! Kick PANDAS ass! That kind of thing. One asking how you can tell the difference between PANDAS and FND (Evie would say very little difference, doctors might say otherwise). More than one (female) saying “I have PANDAS too”.

A new munchie epidemic might be on the way.

Sweet mother of—

Okay, she wins munchie Olympics for the month. Impressive dedication to a stupid, tasteless cause. Can't wait for it to get all infected!

Start archiving and screencapping and get ready make her a thread, if she's a potential lolcalf. Or if it's that intolerable just pick a rare disease with a diagnosis of exclusion and fake your way into a few months off work.

Yeah, the Lucky Fin Project is a charity established by parents of a child who was born with a limb difference affecting her right hand. The name is a reference to Finding Nemo, the eponymous protagonist of which is born with a "different" fin but is depicted as capable and worthy nonetheless.

If you don't mind some covert religiosity ("fearfully and wonderfully made", et cetera), they appear to be a good organization. They're mostly devoted to raising awareness about all kinds of limb differences and offering support to kids with limb differences and their families.

It's a pretty gross thing to co-opt for one's spastic LARP, which is in character.

So is Paige still alive? You would have thought she'd be dead of that incurable sepsis she keeps crowing about already
Well, you'd also think that someone with super deadly multidrug resistant infections wouldn't be able to beautifully heal a bunch of facial piercings, but it's Paige, sooo...

Paige has now resorted to grifting on tik tok for very essential items on her amazon wishlist, such as $100+ air pods, crocs and hair ties

Correct me if I'm wrong but wouldn't paige be able to get a flat with welfare and disability payments? Or some form of accommodation under palliative care like a group home or a hospice?

What country? In the US disability payments are shit and take years to get, and the closest to council flats is section 8 which is basically a joke unless you have kids (and then it’s like… 85% a joke) Now, if she’s diagnosed terminal then yes, medicare should cover a shithole hospice. Except she’s not a young child so it’s treatment or palliative care.

Basically the US safety net has more holes than a cheap hooker’s fishnets.

Maybe if she was genuinely ill and dying, then yes. But I suspect the local authority have already had enough of providing palliative care to a perfectly (physically) healthy young failure-to-launcher with a shitty attitude.

What country?
New Zealand, so she's already paying nothing for her medical expenses and would be on some kind of government sickness benefit. Public housing has long waiting lists in every country but I thought she had a flat? Her dad and nurses were visiting her while she was off her face on pain meds.

I had a feeling I would have to explain this to people in the US, palliative care in NZ and a lot of other places aren't limited to when you are literally about to die of a terminal illness, it's for anybody with a life limiting condition which Paige would fall under if she actually had any of the conditions she says she has.

Given the amount of time she spends in hospital I assume they would agree to anything that would get her out, being in hospital is probably costing far more than having her in the community and convincing her that she's getting "comfort care" lol
I thought she had a flat?
She was in a group home but from what I saw she left because they were acquired by another company and were apparently abusive, she deleted the tik tok before I could screenshot the comment

Lo
The post surgical fentanyl fog has worn off and like a Troon with a shiny new fauxgina Rose is facing the reality of what she's done to herself.

She's still totes grateful for her new toy tho. Don't pity her she did this to herself.

Lolol, who would have thunk it... elective trach sucks. What. A. Dummy. I still can't figure out what the tracheostomy is supposed to treat? It's pretty damn invasive and she didn't even need the cpap. Like what did they tell the insurance to justify the expense? Was it just in case she needed it further down the road like eds girls who start using wheelchairs full time because their joints may deteriorate some time in the future? Madness...

At least there's an upside for us... We won't have to hear her carry on endlessly in that creepy baby voice whilst wearing grandma clothes.

I know she's been through some childhood shit, but her bad attitude keeps me from having any pity for her. That, and SHE CHOOSES THIS!
