US 2022 Mid-Term Election

I don't see any updates justifying this sudden level of pessimism. What, are you all upset Kelley's got the initial lead in AZ? That CA and CO went Dem for the Senate? Surely that can't be surprising.
There's still a ton of votes to be tallied and Republicans are already on track to win the House, and fight for the Senate. Seriously wtf?
Not only that but the Republicans that are losing are Never Trump Republicans that voted to impeach Trump and prosecute US citizens over January 6. Good riddance. Sometimes with midterms is it is not just about winning but also cleaning house. Trump wants his brand of conservatism to be the face of the Republican party. As such these Never Trump Republicans have to go. Even if a Dem gets put in a seat one must remember that the true prize is 2024.

I don't see why people are acting like this isn't exactly in line with the polling done beforehand. The only surprise is the extent the Dems got curbstomped in Florida.

A slight GOP majority in the house and maybe a single pickup in the senate was the safe bet going in, I haven't payed enough attention to governorships to say for certain but the number of competitive races are about on par with the senate if I recall. Anything more isn't likely but also not impossible at this point.

This. Even if they end up with a majority in both chambers, the fact that it's this close given the state of the country is shocking.
Priorities. Liberals have them all fucked up. The economy can get Weimar Republic bad and every constitutional right trampled. But dang it! They have to kill kids otherwise we aren't on the right side of history!

So judging from what has happened thus far, my mostly unsubstantiated guess is we get the following: 52-48 Republican Senate, comfortable Republican majority in the House (but not as big as many R's predicted), Dems interpret the lack of a Red Tsunami as approval to continue being pants-on-head retarded and murmurs about DeSantis 2024 intensify even though I'm quite certain he wouldn't resign mid-term to run and get put down by the Don.

Zeldin still doing a great job considering the state he's running in btw.

my hopium is slowly going away I was expecting a red wave, not this, this a red splash at this point, i can see us getting Georgia back and holding onto pennsylvania, NC and Wisconsin and winning the house, but by thin margins the only wave was in Florida

So what's the other side's alternative to fix all that?

Yup, This was always the outcome. The country is just far too polarized for a landslide in any direction.

But don’t you know, if the Republicans don’t pick up 300 seats in the Senate then all is lost! Whatever shall we do when blue shitholes continue to vote for blue shithole governors to institute their blue shithole policies?

It also depends on the Dem in the seat, Manchin is quite different than AOC
