š• / Twitter / X, the Social Media Platform Formerly Known as Twitter / "MUSK OWNS TWITTER"

This all sounds horribly believable. 2015/16 is also roughly when the blue checkmark went from being "this person has verified their identity" to "this person is better than you". It used to just mean that you were who you said you were, that you had verified that your account was either the official account of an organisation, or that the person operating the account was who the account claimed to be. Then they took the Milo's checkmark off him for being homosexual while in charge of an incorrect opinion, despite his account being his account. Boom. Immediately transformed into a stamp of approval by the system.

Well that's not utterly terrtifying.

It seems to be lessened significantly in the UK too. It'd be similar garbage trending but instead is all stuff I would expect to see today.

UK trending is:

Kherson (the surrender of Kherson is dominating the news cycle, well over 100k tweets talking about it)

PMQ's (which happened today and usually see a flurry of tweets) - Likely pushed as its sat on 34/38k

Nurse's Strike (unknown if pushed, no numbers)

West Streeting (In the news, no numbers)

Currysgodofwar (Ragnarok drops tomorrow, likely organic but no numbers)

#loveisblind (19k tweets, some Netflix shit popular among Essex people, final two parter was on Netflix today)

So it is just going to be business as usual with the ā€œofficialā€ tier of checkmark. If Marques Brownlee qualifies as a ā€œpublic officialā€ then shitlibs like Stephen King will and the smug Twitter elitism continues.

To be honest, I'd assume there's a more robust system than "slide me 15k and I'll give you the bluecheck" that was there before. It's just another tag saying "this is definitely me/mybrand" etc.

An individual "fundraising" for rent and food money? You know there's a name for that, and they've been around WAY longer than Twitter has. But I guess asking strangers online for spare change doesn't feel as shameful as actually leaving your house and walking around downtown with a cardboard sign and an upside-down ball cap.

And the destruction of Twitter? Bitch just don't leave, people saying the nigger word isn't stopping you from begging. If anything, you'll get a more authentic vagrant experience coming across random degenerates throwing slurs and expletives around at you as you try to "crowdsource" your next paycheck.

Thank God Musk is reconsidering. The last thing I want to see is the same shit all over again in which idiots with 2k followers get socially elevated with a special checkmark because they wrote for VICE once.

Thanks Elon, very cool

Physical removal is the only solution to people who won't even entertain the idea that what they censor is what is curative to the genuinely harmful and misleading content which they allow and promote.
Optimistically, Musk would sack this faggot as soon as he's secured revenue and flushed the place clean.

It does seem a bit strange why exactly Roth here, despite being such an obvious faggot, appears so willing to work with Musk.

I have never seen this feature in twitter before, but there is an audio meeting with musk and advertisers.
https://twitter.com/i/spaces/1RDGlabMNOgJL?s=20
Mr. Cohen is representing 700 various advertisers.

@32:00 minutes is an interesting part. Sounds like Musk is trying to turn twitter into a bank of sorts. Definite WeChat vibes. Maybe he's trying to take a bite out of Venmo and Cashapp, granted I've never used those apps, but I am sort of aware of what they do.

-sending money between twitter users
-extracting money requires an authenticated bank account
-a money market account "high yield" savings account for "deposits" made to your twitter "bank"
-Cash/debit/ect. sounds like he's eventually working on making the money coming into twitter much easier for the user in the future.
Just build your own bank!

39:10 Mr. Cohen says "the checkmark used to stand for something" what does it mean now? He sounds disappointed by the 'leveling of the playing' field. Advertisers/brands wondering if they have to pay the $8 dollars a month. Yes.

Edit:
50:45 The content moderation council will not be a "command council" it's more of an advisory board, and won't have final say on content. They are there to show "the leaders of twitter are hearing things." Musk stresses the community notes feature will obviate most of the need for the content moderation. Musk asks Mr. Cohen what he thinks they should do in regards to content moderation, and then Mr. Cohen says "we can talk about that offline." Musk then *gives a small laugh* and says "sounds good."

It sounds like we're in for many months of changes, and they are, in fact, rewriting the whole codebase, as it was fractured into 3 divisions beforehand, and won't be able to handle the new video features (they will be trying to eat youtube's pie, which i think is positive). Musk closes that he wants twitter to be a positive force for humanity, and that people don't regret the time spent on the site. I'm not sure if advertisers care about whether they have a positive or negative affect on society.

If you pay Elon 8$/month for a dumb icon, you're a spergy, disgusting homosexual.
Don't be a homosexual. Resist the fag in you.

Also this is arguably WORSE than the previous permabans that forced one into high IQ euphemistic wordplay.
Now you will be allowed to be low IQ grugg and you'll just be hidden, wondering why nobody follows you - because nobody will see your content.

I seem to recall the age of consent being 12 years old in Japan so....
13 nationally. It's a moot point though, because every single prefecture (and municipalities with appropriate legislative authority) raised the age of consent to at least 16, with a fair number going for 18.

They just publicly admitted to the shadow bans that everyone has known about for years.

I do wonder if Musk has thought ahead when advertisers go French and leave the site because everyone and their brother is so fucking cucked that they'll have a collective panty-wet if some rando posts a picture of their company's ad next to a post by a Proud Boy.

Not that I ultimately mind if Twitter goes the way of Geocities, but it would be a bigger victory for it to remain up and keep sending the libtards into Musk Derangement Syndrome 24/7/365.

IDK if $8 for a checkmark will fund Twitter because I can't see the company's books, but he needs to hire someone to find that out ASAP. And start thinking of other ways to keep the company solvent besides firing people.

Lmao it used to stand for "I'm a pedophile."

Also (((Cohen)))? Couldn't you have found a single person named Smith or something?

Advertisers aren’t going to leave twitter. If any do it will be a short virtue signal until they quietly come back.
