It's one evil with two heads. So long as they control both options and you accept that, then they can always move you in the direction they want just by holding up a worse choice next to it.

The chief purpose of the Republican party in the USA is to prevent the arising of an actual Right Wing / Nationalist party. There really are only two options. (1) Build up a third party over as many elections as it takes to flip to the tipping point of people voting for it not being a "wasted vote" or (2) stage a coup within the Republican party and wrest control of it from the uniparty. That's what Trump did. Or at least came closer to doing than anybody else has.

I mean there's a 3rd option but it involves an actual civil war.

I do actually respect people voting a third party. They are at least trying. Now if efforts at 1 undermine efforts at 2 that's a problem. But something has to be done than an endlessly repeating cycle of being presented with two puppets and meekly choosing the one with the smaller knife in its hands.

I'm actually of the same view point on the uni party shit. Republicans just use lube when they fuck us, so I find them relatively preferable to the dems.

I still think voting third party is dumb in this case, because if the system is so fucking rigged that both sides are working together, you will NEVER build a proper third party. R and D will come together to crush any legitimate threat, just like Mitch McFuckass is doing to MAGA atm.

If you think both parties are on the same team your options are to accept your place as a serf or do something in minecraft. Voting third party is a just a cope for people who recognize how rigged the system is, but want to pretend they're actually doing something.

I never expected super majorities in both houses, but I expected there to be some repudiation of the current system. I expected the Dems to really be hurting, to the point they'd have to reconsider their politics. But no, this was a bog standard mid term, which means either rigging happened AGAIN or the people are perfectly content with the state of the country. Both are worth dooming over imo.

Third parties are a useful trap to keep people who are bad at statistics from having a meaningful voice. If we were smart, we'd make more of them targeted at peeling off equity socialists (except at least "independents" are sufficiently bought in to caucus with the party that actually owns them)

I think there's something to be said for the idea of them existing as sort of a looming threat if the mainline party gets too out of line with some ideas.
And as a bug/feature the libertards actually _will_ vote for somebody else, unlike the fundies.

Not following the election too closely, but this doesn't look that terrible. The GOP might take the house and get a tie in the senate and if that happens then at least the democrats will be far less capable of getting what they want. That wouldn't be a big win, but I guess that would be a slight improvement over the status quo and I was just expecting things to either stay the same or get worse.

Right now there's three plausible outcomes really.
1. Last minute fortifications fail, Republicans take nevada, and Georgia is won by runoff (Which historically incumbents tend to lose so, fingers crossed) resulting in a republican majority
2. Either Democrats fortify nevada last second but lose the runoff, or Republicans take Nevada but Georgia's run off is lost, resulting in a tie
3. Democrats fortify Nevada and win the runoff, securing a democrat majority, which I want to believe is impossible but it really isn't.

Why do you think the DNC worked so hard at turning the party that ran Ralph Nader as a spoiler into a feckless caricature as the party of crystal-fondling hippie schizoids that fails to get on the ballot in states where it actually matters?

Why is that, Slappy?
Well my friends, we DO have a voter dashboard. And on that dashboard, you can see if your ballot was in fact received, verified, and counted. I like so many others here in Maricopa County, request a mail-in ballot. Dear Mrs. Slappy and myself sit down the night before the election, go over everything together, and complete our ballots and SIGN and DATE them. Election Day, we waltz into our polling place and drop them in the secure box. No waiting in line, no misprinted ballot bullshit, no go vote somewhere else nonsense.
Anyway, the dashboard shows our ballots (dropped in on Tues.) were only signature verified and counted TODAY. And that means slappy fools like myself probably had their batch of ballots counted today as well. Kari urged during the primary NOT to mail in your ballot. Either show up and vote or drop it off in person on Election Day and her numbers then were the exact same scenario as now. I guess we'll see, despite all the fuckery.

He's admitted to studying his speeches, something Hitler himself learned by observing others. That's a good clip from his earlier days because you can see who he appealed to, and why, confirming what Germans who were alive under the NSDAP told me. It always began with "You can't understand what it like to live during Weimar,,,and then..." Always.
