Star Wars Griefing Thread (SPOILERS) - Safety off

For some reason, I like character development that isn't reset every five to ten years. It's why I got repulsed by the Superhero comics pretty early on. Telling literally the same story over and over again isn't a strictly Hollywood phenomenon after all.
That was another hallmark of the 90ies Dark Age of Comics. Prior to the 90ies there was permanent character and story progression. In spite of everything else @Mississippi Motorboater had previously listed.

My prediction:
Provided this doesn't just explode on the launchpad, and provided the Disney writers don't just completely ignore that line from Raiders...

Marion will be 18, but when introducing Indy to his daughter he tells him she's 15 to try to discourage them, saying that Marion's anger is that Indy was willing to take advantage of a 15 year old. "not I was 15!" but "You thought I was 15!"

So not an Indiana Jones series?

So let's think about the ways they will use this to destroy the legacy of Indiana Jones. Ignoring, for now, the supposed retarded plotline of the new film, which is so dumb it simultaneously has to be fake and also 100% probably what they would do.

It will ignore the flashbacks in Last Crusade and the Young Indy series. It will transfer elements of Indy onto Abner. Making Indy someone who is aping his much cooler professor and less of an individual. He'll also have a hat and a whip. He may be half-black.

Marion will probably be the main character. A young and plucky kid on expeditions with her father. She'll be tough and smart despite her young age. Let's cast the young Leia in the role.

It'll follow their journey for the ark and other treasure-hunting expeditions along the way. Got to really emphasise Indy was riding on someone else's coat tails in finding the ark.

It will bring in a student named Henry who will be in his mid-20s. Of course, this will be Indy, but they'll hope the normies don't remember that so they can have a reveal.

It will then focus on Indy at 27 romancing a 15-year-old Marion. Which ends up destroying his relationship with Abner. It will really highlight how much Indy was in the wrong and basically raped her.

Honestly, some variation of a young Marion leading into a young Indy and her has to be what this is right?

A pretty solid guess, but you forgot to have Abner be gay & non-binary.

The problem was a lot of it was shit. Writers in the 80s were dealing wacky magic from the 60s and grim drug addiction from the 70s.

The MCU isn't a cancerous boil simply because it's a neverending slew of stories---it's because it's a neverending slew of obnoxious, continuity-reliant dreck hobbling on Easter Eggs, cameos, and shared universe convolution instead of substance. Which is the polar opposite of pulp's monster-of-the-week shenanigans.

Or in the case of Indiana Jones, artifact-of-the-week.

MCU (and American Super Hero Comics in general) problem that over reliance on continuity.
Despite what the Disney Star Wars writers tell us, continuity is good.
Comics fall over a lot by having continuity from other series be crucial to understanding what's going on.

Its hard to walk that tightrope of rewarding fans investment (and encouraging new fans to get invested) while also maintaining a story that stands on its own. And none of Disney's current stable of writes has anywhere near that kind of skill.

They've been cancelling and postponing projects left and right (games, movies, shows, etc) which I can only assume is due to Chapek's constant budget cuts, the disastrous Nielsen ratings results for the new shows and the slow disappearance of merch in stores (whose fucking bright idea was it to make a Mandalorian mascara and R2-D2 perfume the hot new SW products of the year? lmao). Its gotten to the point where they're now just dropping all these poorly announced spinoff films and are just looking for a director to kickstart a proper sequel-SEQUEL-trilogy to Ma-Rey-Sue and friends' adventure as if that would fix anything.

Aside from the absolutely hilarious disaster that is the High Republic, there's also the recent disastrous failures of the Disney Wars Hotel. Its gotten so bad that not only is the cringy lounge act a bust but they've resorted to letting people enter the empty rooms for free just to raise traffic.

And this is without getting into detail about the other problems with Disney atm, such as the menus, financial issues, Bob Cheapskate's budget cuts and price hiking, the constantly failing and increasingly shrinking Disney Wars rides, Hasbro having to rely on the EU again to save their hides due to their Disney Wars Sequel toys, Disney+ toys and Nostalgia boomer toy lines failing to raise interest (especially after that failed Inquisitor lightsaber and shitty rancor crowdfunding experiments proved to be laughing stocks), the cancelled, games, Disney twitter imploding since Musk came along, the Marvel drama, former CEOs shit-talking Disney and Chapek, and so much more. Its been a good couple of months aside from all the troon attacks on KF.

Even disney wars redditfags are absolutely imploding, with even the most devout Disney drones and Filoni wolfaboos biting each others heads off.
(Good lord look at how they butchered r/prequelmemes into an unrecognizable mess of trannyfaggotry and disney memes not even relating to the prequels)
Can you believe that Disney executives are actually jumping ship to The Daily Wire of all places?

A lot of upside if Daily Wire's numbers keep increasing. The ex-Disney exec is a marketing exec, which could really help their studio grow. Plus all them shekels, Shapiro was just doing dinner with Jordan B Peterson and the flipping PM of Israel.

They're trying to make a cinematic universe out of Indiana Jones of all things. To take the most mundane passing dialogue from the script of Raiders and make an entire TV series about it.
They're going for Indy 500.

Well I'll be damned! You mean they're NOT going to continue the franchise with Indy 5s inevitably smarter, cooler, most likely swings both ways goddaughter/sidekick turned true star of the movie AKA Phoebe Waller-Bridge??? That's literally unheard of in today's Hollywood. Or are they waiting for Ford's death so they can pull an Indiana Forever instead of the usual bait and switch? And why does that shovelfaced broad look like a young Jimmy Savile?

By the way, it feels phenomenal to be back, gents!

"No insideous ideologies" - just that you need to accept a man in a dress is a woman if he says he is, and that you are a bigot if you don't suck its girl dick.

Sorry if it was not clear from my post, that image was taken from the Daily Wire+'s site, not Disney/Disney+. Spending their annual gross income on kids programming without globohomo (or so they say) could be a big deal.

I've edited my original post for clarity.

Sorry for jumping in and be THAT guy, but, i loved SW as a kid and i have worked on parody dubs of the original (Unreleased for copyright issues) and i kind of liked the first season of Mandalorian, still couldn't get the feeling of watching Lone Wolf and Cub, wich Mandalorian is based on, not that it is official but hey come on, it's basicly that set up...

But then i lost any contact of SW, only watching it with RLM commentary over, what happened with a season 2? Is it worth watching? Is it done?

I did a double take when I saw this - in what world is a villain who casually talks about genocide for ridiculously petty reasons "well-written" rather than fanfiction levels of cartoonishly evil? So I got curious how bad it was and looked up the scene online.

This character chuckles as he explains how he uses the dying screams of slaughtered alien children as a torture instrument. They couldn't have made him more caricatural if they gave him a twirling mustache and named him Doctor Mengelis. Mature and adult writing my ass, this is simply comical.

As for current year diversity nonsense, I can't judge the whole show, since I only saw that bit and don't plan on ever watching any more of it. I did however notice a blonde blue-eyed officer delivering an evil monologue to her swarthy captive who has a strong ethnic accent, so there's that.
Did we watch the same scene?

Was the doctor a little effiminite for my tastes yes, but was he cartoonish in his statements... no.

The Empire casually killing a race of beings they see as insignificant to build a fuel depot then capitalizing on recordings of their death screams for some other use is not cartoonish at all. He doesnt laugh maniacally he just camly states what they did. You should read the notes the Japanese "doctors" wrote at Unit 731, they refer to human test subjects as "logs" they describe dissecting people alive as if they were discussing making a bed. This behavior is very believable.

As for the casting, Is till think it is pretty good for this show. There are a few too many "ethnic" characters in some scenes I guess, but for the most part the actors all do a good job of appearing as someone that actually lives in the SW universe. They are even doing a better job of this than the Mandelorian. They even go out of their way to have a scene where a lower Imperial officer mistakenly says "Sir" to the female ISB Supervisor clearly demonstrating that the writers know there should not be many females in the Imperial ranks.

I despise what disney has produced with star wars, but this Andor series is well made and it is engaging unlike any other SW product they have made. You can criticize it all you want (without watching it as you say) but I will give credit when it is due. I will not just hate something for the sake of it.

Well season 2 did prove that people who listen to Doomcuck are retards, since it firmly proves that the sequels remain canon by having a pointless 2 episode arc where Djinn gives up the kid, and then takes him back from horrid CGI Luke.

Oh also you needed to watch Blorba Fatt and deal with that shit too apparently to get what the fuck's going on.

I love that upon release, they insisted the PSX game "Masters of Teräs Käsi" was canon, wich makes it canon that Finns are around, in a galaxy far far away and kicking ass. For you poor non norsemen, Teräs Käsi means "Iron Fist" in Finnish.

(Also, speaking on wich, they speak Swedish in the flying cars in Blade Runner, "Kod Grön!" and all that. Thanks for the info, i think i will get the Lone Wolf Omnibus collection instead :)

lol try and stop them
nah, they're pretty good at doing that on their own
So while I still think going back would probably be the right way forward it'd still be a process of interpretation and application to modern creative language (let's skip the argument about how dire a state that's in) and iterating it into at least a grain of novelty so that anybody could possibly give a fuck.
My problem is trying to make more Indiana Jones stuff at all. It clearly peaked with the 3 original movies and nerds acted as though Kingdom of the Crystal Skull was the worst thing since 9/11 the prequels. It's not worth it. They're not gonna make billions from it like they did with the sequels. Indy as a character has nowhere to go anymore. I don't care about Marion's father. The new content won't create any sort of new internal cinematic language that isn't just lazily "paying homage" the first 3 films.
MCU (and American Super Hero Comics in general) problem that over reliance on continuity.
This is why the post Avengers Endgame response online has been so hilarious to me. The MCU at this point is like a TV show that's gone on way too long while also having just finished a major event storyline. Capeshit movies aren't comic books but this its' exactly what comic books have been going through for decades. They really thought Disney was going to give everything up after the good guys stopped Thanos just because they thought Endgame was the series finale (and was marketed as such to dumb people) when the whole point is that they have decades worth of shit to pull from (and change until its completely unrecognizable from the source material) to make dozens of movies with. They won't be good movies, but they'll be "movies".

Star Wars is catching up in this aspect by interconnecting everything to such a degree that it's complete nonsense unless you've seen everything Dave Filoni has ever made.

De-canonizing the sequels was pure cope from Star Wars fanboys who refuse to give up on the franchise while also knowing deep down that it's going to end up leading to the Disney trilogy no matter what. Mando, BoBF, Obi Wan Kenobi, Andor, all of it. Filoni doesn't secretly hate the sequels like they pathetically want to believe, and he likes Kathleen because she lets him do whatever retarded crap he wants as long as he follows orders.

I think the Soylo movie made it canon first. It's one of the few things I actually remembered from that dogshit movie.

So apparently, thanks to that last episode of Andor, Crusader Kings politics finally arrive in Star Wars where the banker dude that Mon Mothma hates proposes that his son would spend some time with her daughter in exchange for him helping her launder her money for the Rebellion.

Also, it was a rather generous offer. I mean, all the guy asked for was that their kids meet. He openly said that he didn't want them betrothed-yet. He just wanted their kids to meet and get to know each other. What's so wrong with that? The kids of rich people hobnobbing and getting to know each other is rather common in the real world. If they like each other, they'll get together, if they don't, they won't. And hey, they're both Chandrilans, so there's nothing wrong with it on the surface. Maybe the banker guy's son is a scumbag, and that's what gave Mon Mothma cold feet about the offer. But we don't know that for sure, at this point.

It's better than Season 1. And it's got the best portrayal of Luke in Disney SW canon. But it would probably just encourage you to play the Dark Forces games due to the Dark Troopers stealing the show.
