Name me a single developed country with a modern military that has an established system of sexual abuse and physical violence which is outright condoned by its leaders. One that is so severe it has led to an enormous number of suicides and violent attacks on other personnel.

There are none and you know it.
The Ukraine. Ukrainian soldier raped by penal battalion, who videoed it, and put it online, then confirmed when said soldier filed a criminal complaint.

Send evidence from credible international or Western media sources, not some BS photos or other Russian propaganda.

Incidentally, and dont take this as anything but my subjective observation, im starting to see a fairly rapid shift among professional russia simps and autists on social media and various scuffed blogs from "MUHRUSSIA SHALL SINGLEHANDEDLY DESTROY NATO BECAUSE STRONK!!!" and the traditional russiaboo narratives we are all so familiar with to "MUH BRICS SHALL UNITE THE ENTIRE NON WESTERN WORLD AND START MUH NEW MUTIPOLAR WORLD ORDER!!!" in the past week.

Seems that BRICS is on-route to unseat the SCO, EAEU, CIS, and the CSTO as the "utterly impotent and irrelevant PR project made up of incredibly corrupt and dysfunctional third world countries that largely fucking despise eachother and will gladly sell eachother out for continued trade and relations with the west" to be perpetually coomed over as being imminantly about to create some magical reserve currency/superweapon/superscience/fleshlight which will overthrow the west and rule the world, until it inevitably falls due to internal divisions before they even are able to come up with an email address, at which point the coomers will take a week off the internet and then come back babbling about the SCO and start the cycle anew.
This is the thing a lot of people fail to realise; opposition to the West is not a unifying ideology. There is nothing that binds nations like Russia and China and Iran etc besides resentment towards Western dominance. For all its faults, the West does have a unifying set of values and even kinship that supersedes even pragmatic national interests. Hence countries like Germany are willing to undergo tremendous economic pain when push comes to shove if a threat to abstract Western ideology is on the horizon.

The rest of the world doesn't have that. China and Russia have nothing in common besides a fear of the West. India just does its own thing. Latin America does its own thing. Africa does its own thing. The Islamic world can't even unite around religion, they fight each other. Countries that matter like Japan or South Korea are firm Western allies. Since communism died there is nothing to rally an Eastern coalition anymore.

Dislike of the West is not the basis for a meaningful bloc. Maybe in the event of a total war, but as things are now it's only good for sabre-rattling. Not a coherent opposition to the US and Europe. This is why Russia is having to fight its battles alone while China just sees cheap gas and dollar signs.

Don't blame him: the reception is horrible in the bathrooms where they work....

Well, this is an oof.

The sudden collapse of crypto exchange "FTX" and its Bankruptcy filing today, has revealed that FTX presently suffers from $10-$50 BILLION in liabilities with almost ZERO assets . . . and among those liabilities, are "investments" made by . . . . UKRAINE . . . .

At this early hour, it __appears__ that tens-of-billions in American "Military Aid" to Ukraine, which was allegedly to be used to fight Russia, was cash that Ukraine DID NOT use to fight Russia, but instead invested into FTX!

And, as you might guess from the Bankruptcy filing . . . . it now seems that all the money . . . is gone.

Yes, you read that correctly: Instead of using US Military Aid to fight Russia, Ukraine "invested" part or all of it, into FTX, and right now, it looks like all the money is gone.
"ukraine has lost all the aid money to american crypto scammers!" is one of the funniest propaganda stories in quite a while tbh

My belief is that the conflict is going to start going cold as this new general shortens the line and fortifies and its just going to become a repeat of the Korean War with a fortified DMZ that sees spurts of activity as one side or another fires artillery over the line because they woke up on the wrong side of the bed that day, basically how the original 2014 outbreak of violence in Ukraine ended.
People were saying the same thing after the failed Kiev offensive and subsequent messy retreat. Scaling down was supposed to improve Russian grip on the eastern and southern regions, and make successful Ukrainian offensives impossible. Then Ukraine launched Kharkiv offensive and ran Russians out. That was supposedly good for Russian control in the remaining regions as they could now concentrate forces and ensure that ones in Kherson can keep land access to Crimea safe. Then Ukraine began another offensive and Russian forces retreated again.
What makes you think that this time will be different?

To stop the shitpoasting, Ukraine needs to take a large city every other day, it's the only way to make the Zs depressed enough
Most Russia simps who used to frequent this thread already retreated.

this bit around Kherson is just good military thinking, having that exposed force on the far side of the river with no intention of going on the offensive for potentially years is just risk and waste of troops, the river makes a good shield to fortify behind and almost every single serious military figure and arm chair strategist that isn't taking sides would recommend it
The problem is, it would have been good military thinking had they abandoned Kherson as soon as the bridges started getting hit. They doubled down on a military mistake for months, and have decided to correct it after the damage was done. Them pulling troops into Kherson cost them Kharkiv and will cost them Luhansk because the northern supply lines are within Ukrainian artillery range. Even the most pro-Ukrainian armchair strategists were saying that Russia should leave Kherson. Months ago. Russia has decided to hit the brakes when they've already drove off the cliff. It might be the correct course of action, but it's too fucking late.
This Kherson stuff is being read entirely backwards, its not a sign of weakness at all, its pragmatic and has made it harder for Ukraine to conduct offensive operations towards the Crimea since the bridges are now gone
But Ukraine doesn't need the bridges to cross the river, they already are on the left bank in Zaporizhzhia. Everyone and their mother was predicting that Ukraine would not attempt a dangerous river crossing, they'd just push towards Melitopol.
Russia's new general is unfucking the situation by shortening the line
But he also allowed Ukraine to shorten their line. The decision was sound, but all the advantages Russia gets are also advantages they give back to Ukraine.

it's not the same for both sides.
all russian supplies and reinforcements to the area had to cross the gigantic river, very difficult and ugly situation when the river crossings get blown up by long range precision missile strikes all the time. meanwhile ukraines supply lines to the area just go through flat, open, uncontested territory.
operating west of the dnipro was very hard for those russian force, much harder than it was for their ukrainian counterparts. they were at a big disadvantage because of the supply situation.
shifting the front to the river removes this imbalance, now both sides are staring at each other across a massive barrier that is very easy to defend and almost impossible to assault, for both sides. they gave up territory to stop the bleeding, it was the right decision given the situation they were in.

This is a thread for a discussion of the SMO, not your personal blog to rant about internet slapfights.

Apparently Pushkin, following the example of the Confederate statue that domed a nigger taking him down, said "Hold my beer" and actually destroyed a khokhol taking him down.

To be confirmed but still funny if true.
If so, Pushkin pushed their shit in.

That is pretty retarded though, Pushkin was a brilliant playright and supporter of liberty in the Russian Empire who got exiled because of multiple clashes with the Tsar and his government. Funnily enough, the Soviets didn't like him too much either. Not sure if there's a particular reason why he's got a bust in Zhytomyr.

Googled the name of the "prominent russian academic" and turns out he has a longass record of being a bullshit prediction maker and general media attention whore, which is something any halfway competent journo sped should have figured out by also making a quick google search, but then this is the daily mail so tis to be expected they fail to live up to even the lowest expectations.

That being said it sure has been fun watching the "there totally is a secret peace deal to split ukraine between the west and russia being worked out guiz which is why we appear to be being routed yet again" narratives spread like wildfire in russian internet and among professional shills around the internet. Methinks some wishful thinking is at play here

Thanks, DailyMail has a reputation for promoting shitty sources.

You, uh, did not read that article.

The U.S. sent aid money to Ukraine.

Ukraine allegedly converted the aid money into the FTX exchange.

FTX (the guy running it) then happened to be the second largest donator to the Democratic Party during that time frame.

The Twitter Threads were pointing out the liabilities and such and who it was owed to during FTX's bankruptcy. A large portion - Ukraine had invested in FTX.

February: "This will take less than a week you filthy hohols! Mighty russia will crush you!"
Fast forward to November...
November: "P-please pway nice...don't shell us...Can you pwease consider negotations??"
It's funny watching all of the "dissident right" accounts on twitter buckle and bend and make excuses for a country that hates them.

You never shoot at the edge of your detection range because missiles can be kinetically defeated. A missile calculates an intercept path and starts flying towards where the aircraft will be at the time of impact. This means that a pilot can force a missile to waste its energy by forcing new predicted intercept paths, and this is effective at longer ranges.
They also received AGM-88 HARM missiles to jury rig to their MiG-29s and Su-27s, so you don't want to keep the radar turned on for too long.
In a perfect world you'd want the enemy to enter you no escape zone and only push the button when your probability of kill is very high.
I'm not saying they will, I'm saying they can, and that the UAF probably also is cautious with that.
Although with how it seems the Russians desperately lack bodies for a regular army, I'm not sure how well they fare for special units, I suspect there are issues staffing air defense since it takes longer to learn the platform then say, an AK.
I am quite suprised however the Russians haven't been using OSA launchers. Yeah it's old and from the fucking 70s, but so is the Buk and it is much more mobile.
