He started doing videos of cryptids and conspiracies, had a thing going on with an Australian chick and they made a podcast together but then he dumped her which I'm sure cost some subscribers (on top of the subs he must've lost when breaking up with June). But in general I think he's just victim of the natural YouTube cycle. Every channel eventually has their reach die out and become nowhere near as popular as before. Some people are smart and are able to change their content up to stay afloat, live off of merchandise or other endeavours, or made good decisions early so they basically don't have to worry about money or the numbers for a very long time, but not everyone manages to do that.

Human beings are pretty pathetic really, we're week, slow, practically blind and deaf. We've got no claws or fangs, yet we've completely dominated this earth. We've achieved all this because by design or accident we've got the greatest weapon in all the whole animal kingdom, the human prefrontal cortex and of all of it's gifts it grants us it's the ability to adapt that is most responsible for our success.
We can change not just ourselves but our environment too. We are the masters of change, so when some faggot sits in his room pitying himself and the hand he's been dealt, yet refuses to change then I have no sympathy. I understand that there are aspects of our lives that can't be changed, a quadriplegic probably isn't wining many 100m sprint medals but you should never confuse the realty of the situation with the bullshit we make up in our heads.
If you need money then get a job. All companies like Amazon require form you is that you be a warm body. It's horrible work but is it better than being homeless right? You want to lose weight then just do it. Depression getting you down, then change you life. These thing may seem like insurmountable tasks but they aren't. It's all in your head, every road block and every problem.
To refuse realistic change is to deny human nature. People like Greg sat in his cave while others explored what was over that hill. People like Greg have never discovered anything or improved the world around them in anyway.

Could be that a large chunk of them are inactive subs. Could also be that YouTube kills his reach because of inactivity, so people don't get videos in their suboxes and his channel doesn't get recommended to anyone.
I'm not defending him BTW, I do think he is very melodramatic and he's got it better than most, but YouTube is a cruel mistress.

My grandfather at 8 years old used to wake up with a layer of frost on his blanket, was given the chore of lighting the house stove at 5 am. He got up to do that, use an outhouse in the dark at 5 am in 0 degree weather then had to feed the cows. (You only got a hot breakfast after the animals were fed) At 17 he got to swim in the English Chanel on Christmas Eve thanks to a Nazi torpedo. The man never complained about anything except his grandchildren not going to church often enough.
I honestly think all these whiny assholes should be forced to live in a wood stove heated cabin for a month in winter to get some perspective in their life. Just forcing them offline for a month would do wonders for their mental health.
