Seeing as I haven't seen it covered in the thread yet, might as well bring them here.

First one being on November 5th, a more or less recap of the past five years of Sonic and the general behavior of the fanbase from Forces to Frontiers and the many things that were in between like the movies and the two back to back rerelease disasters.

And just yesterday, LS Mark bringing his take on Sonic Frontiers.

The game has its problems, but this is just dunkey being dunkey, also in terms of collision, as someone that has been working on games as a hobby I can tell you that the faster a character is the harder it is to make every collision work correctly, so I find the criticism of some weird places to be just kind of petty, especially if you go out of your way to find them
Then why compromise yourself by unnecessarily adding texture geometry where collision works like crap?. For instance, Sonic Robo Blast 2 is rather less complex but at least collision always behaves as intended.
Nobody asked SonicTeam to chase the trend of real world like setting + overgrown ancient tech architecture.

Well that is not even close to a reasonable comparision, not only was roboblast 2 being developed for over 15 years, the characters do not change direction based on the normals of the environment, unlike frontiers.
Also, yes people have been asking for an open world sonic game, people have constantly been saying sega should copy sonic world/utopia and other games that are just an open level where you run around with different interactions, but just having that would rarely work for a comercial game

Managed to find some time to finish off Frontiers and ended up enjoying it a lot, probably my favourite Sonic game in years. It's absolutely not without its problems (mostly on the technical side, pop-in and so on but also repetition is an issue at its core) but it was pretty fun all things considered.

Waiting for a torrent since I'm not paying for this half-baked game with Saturn-tier popups.
, but just having that would rarely work for a comercial game
It would but doing open world games the right way its hard, there's a world of difference between GTA and the tons of shovelware open world games made after it, and Sega clearly isn't paying for the level of development anymore.

The last AAA Sonic game was SA2 which came out 21 years ago.

Well considering that, I concede the comparison was far-fetched.
I dont know anything about those fangames, only read them mentioned there and there but no idea what those are about. I thought the fandom clamour prior frontiers was about dropping booster gameplay and another SA sequel.

Well yeah, a lot of fans just want an adventure 3, I also would love to see a game with that same formula, but I think most people just wanted sega to move on from the boost gameplay.
Tbh I dont share that view, I love unleashed and generations, and the cyberspace levels have been extremely fun imo, have been replaying them over and over in the arcade mode, the 3d ones at least.

Of course Dunkey does stupid shit and then he gets defensive when people call him out on his bullshit
If you unironically are subscribed to this cuckold, you should be ashamed of yourself. His content has been dogshit for years now and is just as Reddit-tier as Icuckkkz. The things you do for money.

BREAKING NEWS: Guy who doesn’t like 3D Sonic games and RPGs doesn’t like 3D Sonic game with RPG mechanics
I think people wouldn't get so het up if he stuck to merely criticizing something and not randomly dropping endgame spoilers. That kind of thing doesn't really come across as banter, more spite than anything.

While there is a general thread on him, I'm surprised that a proper one hasn't been made yet, considering how manipulative he is and how his fans instantly jump to his defense whenever he receives backlash for something.
Dunkey is an insufferable faggot and is more disingenuous than any of the game journos he rails against. Also, his wife fucks black men while he watches.
As much as I would like that last part to be true, I think that was actually disproven.

I have been really really enjoying Frontiers. Running around on the island finding ramps and rails up to high points or fighting mini-bosses and all the little mini-games has been really fun. Music has been super catchy too, and the first boss fight was the best experience of “dumb anime fight with song” I’ve had in a while.

I looked over a stream of the game and holy shit what the hell is that map? Why is it an ugly grid rather the more appealing... well more fine detail grid?

Dunkey thought showing Sonic Frontiers being higher rated than Uncharted 4 somehow made his point. Sonic at least isn't just another generic woke shooter trying to be a movie.
Yeah, I enjoy the uncharted games fine enough the writing is enjoyable and the gameplay is okish, but imo pretty much any good sonic game is much better.
But then again I am a Sonic fanboy so what do I know

That's good, because that's essentially the loop for the entire game. Well, with a few change-ups here and there that I won't get into.

This can easily be treated as “just an excuse”, but the game is essentially taking place in a sorta ancient computer that’s kinda breaking down from eons of running, so that could explain things. But again, that can be taken as rationalizing something that was just done because it was easier to code.

Yeah, I essentially sat down for like 6 hours and completed the second island last night. Still a lot of fun, and I appreciate the big bosses getting their own song and style of fight.

Is it weird to say this game is actually giving its characters a bit more developed personalities past the usual goofy stuff?
