So I'm watching this video just to see what the quality of his videos have to be for them to be doing so poorly. For one thing, the guy comes off like he's trying to be both Wendigoon and DJ Peach Cobbler at the same time. He starts off by recapping a video I've never seen filmed inna woods that I don't care about. The rest of this video that's not just advertising is poorly presented and filled with odd claims, like how "God Emperor Trump" is somehow a reference to Ancient Rome when it's actually a reference to Warhammer 40K. He also cites the infamous "God is dead" quote from Nietzsche and starts using it to criticize patriotism, when Nietzsche meant it to mean that humanity has created a vacuum of meaning in secularism, so there's two things he got wrong to drive this weird narrative. I can't tell if he's supposed to be putting on several layers of irony and in-jokes made to mock people on the outside looking in or if he's genuinely that uninformed and overconfident.

So far his video structure is quite terrible, there's not a start-to-finish narrative to follow like with a good 40 minute Youtube video. Here's an example of a good historical narrative video for comparison.

It's not until the last ten minutes that he actually starts talking straight and speaks about the Dead Sea scrolls and then claims they're a forgery, the guy spent thirty minutes setting up what he summed up in five.

If he spent the video dissecting holy relics instead of wasting time on this mock-conspiracy theorist schtick, it would probably have been watchable but the video as it exists now is useless garbage made as an in-joke to mock people outside his circle, it's no wonder nobody watches these videos because they're designed to be hostile to the viewer and make them feel stupid.

Susan Boyle basically couldn’t cope with being famous as she is just a basically ordinary woman and more so, she probably mostly got used to being unnoticed and overlooked because she is not especially attractive.
I am Not being harsh about her, it’s a fact of life, more attractive people get more attention.

This fellow is average looking, to be fair, but he is not really any kind of genius and while he has a bit of talent in talking to a camera, he is nothing special.

Basically he got a bit of reasonable fame, but lacks talent, brains and coaching to both handle it.

Where he went really wrong is he thought he had the intelligence and wisdom to carry his own opinion, speculation and punditry.

Had he copied Simon Whistler, of Top Tens, Biographics and decoding the Unknown, with many other channels, he could still be toddling along.

Whistler just reads out stuff which other people have written for him and puts a bit of his own opinion and spin on it.
He is not massively good looking, smarter than Gregg, but not by a great deal, but is comparable in delivery.

Gregg could do his own versions and it wouldn’t be terrible.

Do feel bad for Greggory. He's kept his nose mostly clean of serious drama. The only real exception is the accusation of him cheating on his wife at the time with ShoeOnHead and another woman. Though said woman who made this claim is borderline schizophrenic so not exactly a reliable source.

Besides that his videos were funny at times and i genuinely enjoyed the conspiracy videos he posted in the last 2-3 years. Especially the follow ups he would post on his secondary channel where he went into a bit more detail, responded to comments and spoke more candidly.

I tend to agree with you there. Back when he still claimed to be a sceptic, in some video of his (could also have been a written opinion piece, can't remember), he tried to tout that very same "Ancient blonde master race" bullshit theory too (and got justifiably roasted for his credulity, causing him to delete the thing and try to call it a "thought experiment").

He always appeared inauthentic in his videos, as if he was putting on an act or imitating someone more successful. Back in the day I put it down to him being some sort of manospherian, which caused me to lose interest.

I watched some of his recent stuff just now, and he still seems phony, just in a totally different way. I'm convinced he's trying to copy someone more successful's style, just can't put my finger on whose.

It's not so much a secret to success as it is a reason to not fail. Someone with no dependents is free to just be a loser. Someone who actually cares if they fail or not and has dependents does not have that option. This is why the ones who succeed tend to have a stable family: they can't afford to lose, and those who can ultimately do and disappear. So... correlation, but not causation.

it’s not just atheism and gamergate. It’s shit like Epic Meal Time and LA Beast. Basically anyone from the 2010s who didn’t get set for life. YouTube in general is declining and TikTok accelerated that trend. The algorithm takes no prisoners.
