Not explicitly a fan of hbomberguy, but the video he made where he took Armoured Skeptic apart for labeling anything he disagrees with as "political" woke up teenage me from a lot of internet nonsense. It's interesting to look back and see how many self-identified critical thinkers could only respond effectively against loons, strawmen, and clickbait. All the while portraying themselves as heroes, rogues, and geniuses for going after the most low-effort targets.

It goes beyond that. They claim to criticise religion and call themselves atheists, but what they really dislike is Christianity and they are very religious in their own thinking too. Bomberdude is as militant to his beliefs as many extreme Catholics I've met and he's completely irrational about what he defends.

The majority of Internet atheists criticise religion not because they think it's wrong. Even when they thnk it is, their motivation is that they hate being told what to do or anything that reminds them to have minimal standards. Religions are demanding and they don't like that they would have to answer to someone, specially if that someone is someone they can't see and acknowledge. It's just them being contrarian and unable to move past their rebellious teenage years. But the thing with Greg is that he does need someone to tell him what to do and how to live his life. I quoted these posts because they are important to point out that these youtubers like Armored Skeptic used to make a lot of money, way more than most people here think, for example DSP used to make around 250k to 300k in the golden years just from youtube videos and now he makes 80k a year, and he wasn't even a big name, people think that youtubers make the income of an average worker when they in fact make way way more than that when they are successful(remember that youtube used to pay more than now, and youtubers have means of directly getting money donations, and also can have sponsorships and merch). Greg probably made more money than what engineers make just from youtube videos, yet he invested nothing of it and spend it all on worthless shit like extremely expensive housing, toys, vacations,etc. Content creators on the internet don't need to work a job on the side when they get to a certain size like a lot of people here are saying, that is something you do if you already have a good job to begin with or are not that successful, working a normal job would pay way less than what they are earning at the moment, and if instead of being immature these content creators invested their money in the safest thing possible they wouldhave a nest egg to not have to work again and their money would compound over time, getting a job as a carpenter when you are making that amount of money makes no sense and if they managed it properly they wouldn't need to work again. Normal everyday people with average jobs who are responsible can save money, yet all of these content creators can't for some reason even though they make more, makes you think.

Armored Skeptic was 30 when he started his channel and became successful so he wasn't a naive 19 year old that never worked or had no idea of the future , yet rather than investing it in something safe he decided to waste it all (you don't even have to invest yourself there is people that do this for you), even now he has no job and doesn't make videos, he has all day to make content but would rather wallow in self pity because he is no longer rich for doing nothing, he could work as a video editor if he decided to put some effort but would rather pity beg in the comments.

Imagine if rather than living in Ontario ,a place where it costs around 1700$ a month to rent a one bedroom apartment, he would have moved somewhere cheap and either bought or built a house since he can work from anywhere, and if rather than spending all of his money on stupid things he had invested it, and if rather than uploading videos a few times a year he would have put some work making more videos and improving their quality, this is the typical story of a content creator that made good money, more money than most people will make, yet wasted it all due to stupidity, laziness and immaturity, the problem is not that he did not become a carpenter and worked 40hs a week while doing youtube, his problem was grossly mismanaging his money, it's similar to the boogie situation in that sense. He had a chance to come back, but the time has come and gone. He needs to move on or just evolve into something new for any audience he may have left.
Thinking about it, probably just a passive guy who fell into a lucky, fast and short streak of good luck and it turned sour over time.
