I've known a few men who had it (war related). The number one symptom is inability to talk about it. Getting them to talk about it is an important step toward recovery.

The inability to get over the kayak thing is fucking amazing. I think there might be two pieces at play here: the first bit is the obvious one: acknowledging that she did something mildly stupid in combining not wearing a lifejacket and not knowing how to swim is too threatening to her fragile self-image as a smarty-pants, so she absolutely MUST go blaming the kayak rental folks to avoid taking any blame herself.

I have to wonder if ZJ's staunch atheism might be the other half of it. One of the chief draws of religion is its ability to give people a way to come to terms with their own mortality. "Yes, one day you will die, but, that's ok because..." but as an adherent of a very Internet variety of atheism, ZJ can't access that. Thus, she's in a state of profound conceptual poverty in dealing with her mortality after being (fairly weakly) confronted with it.

(For what it's worth, I'm an atheist, and I don't spend much time worrying about my mortality, but that's because I've spent many years reflecting on my own beliefs, rather than attacking the beliefs of others as a means to re-assure myself of my superiority to others.)

I love how hard these guys LARP as political activists and feminists and so on but spend everyday making obvious how completely they've avoided learning anything about them. We know LGB isn't a political position because people made the argument that it was and that failed. In the case of the T we can't yet decide this because all their demands consist of political demands which they hide behind an obviously false claim that this is the mere state of existing, then they attack their opponents as taking a "political position" to delegitimatize opposition to the state using violence to prioritize the feelings of troons over established rights and privileges.

A person who refuses to argue in favor of the "human rights" they claim they support is a person who is admitting they haven't even attempted to conceptualize how what they want is a human right. I can argue for free speech as a human right on multiple grounds not the least of which is that it's morally wrong to violently imprison and/or kill people for speaking. What is Colin and Zach's argument for why they have a human right to violently imprison and/or kill people who speak about how they are males or oppose their desire to harm children? They'll never say because they "refuse to debate our existence" as if this automatically makes their position immune to falsifiability.
