This is something few people in the MAGA set want to admit: most of the MAGA candidates are just awful. Kari Lake likes bashing the media but does she have any kind of skill set to govern Arizona? Of course not, so she’ll just bring on a bunch of AZ GOP people and you get another Doug Ducey term effectively. That’s what happened with Trump where he had to bring on swamp creatures nobody liked such as John Bolton. Having no experience but claiming you’ll tell it like is does not cut it with runaway inflation, record high immigration, severe water shortages in Arizona, etc. I’m focusing on Lake just as an example but she can be swapped out for the vast majority of MAGA candidates.

In terms of guns, red flag laws have effectively neutralized that, something that conservatives have almost completely ignored. It doesn’t get reported on but there are numerous Ruby Ridge-tier scandals going on each year but don’t get reported on much. It shows just how fragile things are. I’m not a doomer, I just don’t think MAGA is a solution, it’s just another setback. This gives me an urge to fedpost. I'm going to try and keep this to hypotheticals.

Let's say, hypothetically, there was a pedophilic group of oligarchs that ran this country, who wanted you dead and your children either raped or enslaved. They wouldn't necessarily have the support of the local police or state government. They'd also have tenuous support from local military and national guard bases - the mercenary military does love to blindly follow orders but telling them to carpet bomb the surrounding region which may or may not house their relatives and/or family is a recipe for defection.

Their most loyal foot soldiers would be federal organizations such as the FBI, CIA, and IRS. Organizations which generally have an extremely small presence in each state. This is an extremely small number of people with names and addresses. That being said, I absolutely agree with you that it's a complete mystery what the second amendment is for in such a scenario.

• Florida is a Republican lock for the foreseeable future.
• DeSantis is younger and doesn't have Trump's baggage.
• Trump has a bad track record of hiring underlings who end up stabbing him in the back.
• Some libs are more afraid of DeSantis, because he is more calculating and less impulsive than Trump.
• They're talking about barring Trump from running using a clause from Reconstruction that prohibits "insurrectionists" from running (though they tried this with MTG and it failed).
• If Trump beats the lawfare, the Feds will probably just straight-up have him assassinated.

Uniparty sleeper agent? It's a possibility, but not one I'm really convinced of yet. Rather, I think the GOPe are seeing which way the wind is blowing, and are lining up to brown-nose the heir to the throne.
