World of Warcraft

I'd say classic has even less of that since it's fuller of (loud) retards from what I've seen. nowhere near close to vanilla.

tbh if that's what you're looking for, you need to grab a niche MMO, or at least one that's not MUH WOW MUH FF14 (although I'd go as far and say even the latter has a better community), simply because you're more likely to find people that WANT to be there, not think they HAVE to be there to be cool or trendy playing LE POPULAR MMO LOOK AT THE SUB NUMBERS BRO!
it doesn't help that pvp in WOW is ass anyway shameless plug: try the grind to become emperor in ESO, you'll find plenty of community there
In terms of niche MMOs if you don't really care about big numbers there's City of Heroes Homecoming you can try. People actually want to play that game and the small community kind of has a charm to it.

Reactions: Kane Lives
After bending over and spreading their cheeks, they still end up losing the China market, good for them. I wonder if them pushing gay furries in the new expansion and other games contributed to China axing them.
China already had an entirely different client with different models for things. I do wonder if the Pelagos/Chromie stuff was changed in there as well.

That was part of why it originally wasn't in China as they had to redo a ton of the game to censor all the bones, though they eventually managed it. I wouldn't be surprised if like in all of the other media forms all the gay and black was cut out, but with the push of it in Dragon Lands it probably made it a big pain in the ass for whoever had to cut all that shit out.

I'm playing and avoiding reading basically everything for sake of my own sanity, but one moment managed to pierce my shields and it was genuinely a good story beat. Lor'themar, who is probably the only faction leader other then Gallywix that hasn't been ruined (or was never good) got married to Thalyssra during your afterlife vacation and they have a cute newlywed conversation about it.

Of course, now I'm afraid that this is death flag for one or both of them because the first law of woke storytelling is that you can't depict a successful and healthy straight relationship except as a gotcha.

Was gonna pick it up then this shit dropped.

Someone else already made the How To Train Your Dragon shot but somehow it's even more that movie than Mists of Pandra was Kung Fu Panda. At least that cinematic they remembered to have an orc and human trying to murder each other, this is just generic fantasy crap that could go anywhere and is blatantly stealing from more competent graphical design.

Yep, I am not liking this style either, it's blatantly trying to grab the ff14 without understanding that the audience is so different. Square actually don't treat their player base like shit. Also yes this trailer is shot for shot the same as the 20 million players trailer from ff14 in 2020/21. However that was great as you can literally do everything in the trailer, it was a nice touch.

That trailer from a marketing point feels like a clash of kings or RAID trailer, it's so far removed from the product. I have been playing for 18 years and I am at the point where I don't think the designers know what they are doing. Quality is inconsistent and rushed, the marketing for this is awful as there is no, x and y. It's selling you on member berries of "remember the dragonflight before we canonically raped them." Nostalgia is something Blizzard has been dipping a heck of a lot in the last few years and it screams bankruptcy of ideas.

The Dragonflight redesigns are horrifying and the new race just looks like scalies. It's the first expansion where I have been a straight no with. I will also be interested in how Blizzard tries and recover from Netease.

The new cinematic is literally shot for shot of the FF14 advertisement but with dragons, it's pretty shameful and shows how much Blizzard wants that FF14 cock.
I can barely articulate how far and away that trailer is from an actual FF14 trailer.

FF14 trailers are extremely focused and are full of very specific and meaningful details (important characters, which includes a "guy on the box" stand in for your character and important plot details and settings). If you play FF14 and then watch a FF14 trailer - you have all of the information you need for the trailer. If you don't play FF14 - it's still full of cool things (the characters, the music, the settings, etc) that you can still watch and go "this is cool".

I've played WoW on and off for like 15 years. I have no fucking idea what that trailer (or this entire expansion) is supposed to be besides "You can ride dragons" or what the appeal is supposed to be. The only character I recognize is Alexstraza (which I know is almost certainly spelt wrong) and I do not care about her character at all and barely remember her from WOTLK.

Is riding a dragon a "big deal" in WoW (as opposed to the several hundred 'drake' mounts of varying colors and shades) that you could reasonably base an entire expansion around it? The trailer treats Dragons like a 'big new deal' but Dragons were a huge deal in Warcraft from very early on and are featured prominently in nearly every expansion I can possibly think of. They literally are gods that are capable of time travel and creating life. From Deathwing, to Alexstraza, Onyxia, Chromie, Sindragosa, that green one in that one dungeon - the game treats them as more important than faction leaders.

It's a very boiler plate WoW trailer - "here's some shots of some zones and basic b-roll of some expansion features". If they want that FF14 cock - they're going to have to dig a lot deeper.

Please try telling this to most of XIV's playerbase. I guarantee you they'll passionately argue otherwise.
The amount of effort Square Enix has put into a game that was dead at launch suggests otherwise.

I've not seen the FF14 one so can't compare but for me the biggest thing is it doesn't really feel like a Warcraft trailer. I'm long out of it and can accept that yes those dragon and troll designs are very much a dragon and troll from Warcraft. But the overall trailer feels like it could be for anything, including some incredibly generic YA book series.

Not according to a very vocal portion of the community.

Granted, I'm not saying I agree with them. I'm saying they're all a bunch of entitled fucks who could have it so much worse with another game.
That's just humanity though, and why every system based on wishful thinking, such as communism, is doomed to fail. The human appetite is infinite and people acclimate incredibly quickly to things, making any advancement feel mundane in a very short period of time.
