So here's an issue, UKs mild winters are the reason why more people die from cold than ie Finland or any other country. If you have winter where temperatures are constantly below zero you need to have a heating on in the house, otherwise the water pipes will burst and freeze. In UK they don't have that problem. Furthermore, when I lived in UK it was really fucked up with the heating. It's the only country that I know of where people convinced themselves it's completely normal to NOT have a heating on in the house in winter and instead sit on the couch watching a movie while wearing 3 sweaters and 2 pairs of pants.

What most households do is turn the heating on ie for one hour in the morning and then in the afternoon/evening for few hours.

Their winters are damp and wet and the dampness often seeps into unheated houses or apartments and cause mold and other issues. It's really unpleasant. You'll often find yourself walking down the street in the winter l, feeling cold, and going to a pub or a restaurant naturally expecting to warm up only to realize that the inside temperature is the same as the outside.

EU gives people financial reimbursements for the installation of solar panels as a part of EUs green policies, but the UK has left the EU. So maybe their government should look into that. As far as I know you don't need direct sunlight for the solar panels, just day light. I know lots of people who had them installed and it lowered their energy bills significantly and they weren't even that expensive to begin with.

I think in UK the problem is that being cold or dying from cold is seen as normal. It fucning isnt.
