I think damaged nerves can repair partially after a while, I'm not sure to what extent, I just know from personal experience.
I had surgery in my 20's to fix a broken jaw and they put a plate in, and immediately after the surgery the whole bottom corner of my face was numb, like the feeling when you've been to the dentist, my bottom lip felt like rubber lol.
The feeling slowly came back over the following months, and now, over a decade later (hell almost 20 years, now I think about it, when did I become an old fart?) I just have a small section of my bottom lip with no feeling.
Obviously your jaw isn't your genitals, I can't imagine (nor do I want to) what having them carved up, twisted about, and stitched back together in a mockery of nature would result in.

Nerves in the peripheral nervous system can heal in a way that tissue in the CNS can't. It's something to do with the different types of glial cells that facilitate restructuring. See below (top image shows PNS, bottom CNS):

That said, it obviously depends on the amount of damage and whether your entire genital area has been sliced up and glued back on.

Last night I watched a documentary on Youtube about a Forensic Psychiatry facility AKA: Hospital for the criminally insane. And it made me wonder...what do the "sane" and "pragmatic" mental health professionals think?

I mean--on one hand, you have a hospital for the criminally insane. People so mentally ill, some kill their own moms, crack open the skull, and eat some brains to "become one with her again."
And then you have this trooning shit. LEAN IN to, and GIVE IN to your grave mental illness. For the profits, for the lulzz! These doctors, therapists, nurses, and endocrinologists have a DUTY OF CARE. One they'd get almost violent about, I'm sure, if you suggested encouraging the cutter in the mental ward to keep cutting for the lulz and to perpetuate your 1997 Cube-esque boondoggle of a hospital. Wouldn't hear of it.

Mental illness has a funny way of metastasizing. Another Kiwi in A&N last night said Cancer is never content to stay in the tumor, and they're CORRECT.
