I keep trying to find the ff14 commercial it was one they used on Youtube years ago but I am having no luck. Again I really recommend watching the interview launch livestream they did on Tuesday it is great. I love a good corporate damage control video and that honestly is like what not to do. For me, the red flag is the overall Wow community of content creators is not hyping it at all. I did not realize but in retrospect, the SL expac pretty much annihilated the community. So many big names turned along with the Blizzard shitstorm magnifying people's disdain for SL.

I played none of the patched, I got to max level on a few characters and played some Torghast and that was it. The game if it wants new players needs to ramp up solo content because you have nothing to do than get gear. This is where FF14 utterly curb stomps Wow. I sadly think that it is at the point of no return now because with that you need massively change writing. The engine is really struggling now too.

I actively dislike WoW and am a huge FF14 fanboy, but you can't just turn WoW into FF14 and think it's a smart move.

WoW is very fixable - it's shocking that they don't even want to put in even the minimum of work to fix it and you can crib some of FF14's notes while doing so and they just can't be bothered. It's admirable in a way that they seem to work so hard just to try a different flavor of "the game we already made".

More than anything else though - WoW needs to have it's huge swathe of content retrofitted and badly. Huge portions of the "old" (aka previous expansions) areas, dungeons, raids, and gear need to be way more accessible and rewarding to new players and not treated like literal discarded content. Doing a curated, cleaned up, and properly tested/scaled version of an expansion (complete with dungeons, raids, etc) is a much better way for a player to get 10 or 20 levels than randomly doing bullshit quests in Westfall.

It'd really help if they added more lateral gameplay. I'm sorry to the raidfags, but it's a shitty endgame of just chasing ever increasing numbers to fight the same shit that also has bigger numbers. Oh boy.

Personally, I’m willing to give Dragonflight a shot. I have a bit more optimism than everyone else in this thread and that’s mainly because I’m someone who does actually like doing Mythic+ and PvP. As long as I don’t have to deal with borrowed power from asinine sources or they keep artifact gearing (heart of Azeroth and legion artifacts) the fuck away, I’m probably going to enjoy this a lot more than others.

Are we talking like raid trannies or what? Cos the vibe I get is that 'most' of XIV's playerbase worships the ground Yoshi-P walks on.
Raid trannies are part of it. The recent debacle with Yoshida discussing why there aren't really any minorities in XVI is another case where people seem to be crawling out of the woodwork to decry both him and XIV, and there's all the kvetching I've seen over the years in regards to some of XIV's story beats when it comes to Stormblood and Endwalker.

I have literally no idea why they are trying to compete with Pokemon on it's release of all things for attention span.

Also as a PSA they fucked up the drop tables for evoker on a bunch of the old weekly world bosses from Pandaria and WoD so they had a really high chance of pulling the mount. They fixed it and then rather then rolling back mounts they buffed the drop chance to be actually not terrible for them. Estimated 1-2% instead of the 1-in-2000 or 4000 that it used to be.

is it worth it tho? all the people pissed off found another (better) game to dig their teeth in, even if the blizztroons go all in (lol, as if they could even if they wanted to) there's zero reason to go back to WoW - just as there was never a reason to play another game when you were happy playing WoW. if those raidfags in charge would've been smart they would've understand there's almost no way of getting those players back once they left (because let's face it, the reason people stuck around for as long as they did was inertia and sunken cost. literally battered housewives).

that's just the retarded loud minority. if it would be as shit as they say, it wouldn't have grown as it did (granted, WoW trooning out helped quite a bit). whenever it comes to "ThE CoMmUnItY" you can pretty much assume it's "call of duty boycott" tier. especially now with games being mainstream and being chock full of retards.

Most likely not. I'd be down for some WoW, but Blizz would have to turn the whole ship around, and then only after seeing a full expansion cycle of them NOT shitting it up.

It's only idle speculation on what it would actually take Blizz to get people back from other games, or even back to games in general.

Every now and then I get a bit of a desire to play some WoW, so I just read anything about it and that desire instantly fades.
I sometimes get the bite to give classic a go, since that style of gameplay loop just really isn't out on the market anywhere else. Then I spend about five seconds checking on the classic subreddit, note that the top 5 posts are about people being confused as to why the content ran out after they nolifed it for a month, abysmal player numbers for -the- most popular expansion, and an enormous surplus of bots to fund the fact that half of the people playing engage in regular RMT -- yeah, I'll just hop on a private server or something, what a shitshow

There is a "nudity" glitch with the new drakthyr:

Now this is some scary shit.
It gets better! Sometimes your dragon just wants to flay a human and wear them as their skin.

I'd like to say that I told you all this would be buggy as shit because it was rushed, but why the hell would they take the time to add nipples onto it? Better yet, if they're going to waste the time to add nipples, why the hell would they add them in such an awkward spot like it's a failed tit job?

Do you think Blizz employees have some weird private server that they ERP on with this shit?

No, I think DrearyDoomguy was onto something here. They most likely just slap the male skin onto the female body and call it a day. The male nipples are placed in a way so they are off to the side so they should always be covered by armor/bras etc.

Reminds me of For Honor, where female heroes are just the male heroes but slightly smaller and with some small bumps for breasts added, but otherwise exactly the same build as male.

Lateral gameplay would be massive - but the real "sore" spot currently is how remarkably bad the new player experience is.

Every "major innovation" the game has is almost entirely focused on high level, current players (new zones, raids, <EXPANSION GIMMICK>, etc) and they're somehow shocked that a player who tried the game and bounced off a few years back would just bounce off again - but the game from that perspective has never changed. There are things that can make it a bit more tolerable for Alts (Herilooms, XP buffs, gold, BoEs, other <EXPANSION GIMMICK>) but those are strictly off limits for actual new players.

The game has never been "good" for leveling - you can skip dungeons, you never have to/get to raid, PVP is not good, most specs are missing major tools, and huge/empty zones that even phasing can't fix. Cataclysm and Chrome Time were slap-dash bandaids that arguably made the problem worse instead of better as far as I can see it and feel much more "alt" focused than "new player" focused.

WoW can't just become FFXIV and WoW's currently playerbase doesn't want it to (or else they would just play XIV) - so to fix WoW it has to be a better version of WoW. The main issue (to me at least) is how empty the game feels and hard it was to try and get friends into the game. None of my "normie" friends ever made it <Max Level> and bounced off in favor of something else.

YES.
