I still can't get over the fact that Twitter had over 7500 employees. That's an insane number, when all you're really doing is developing a very big website. For a business of that size and scope, you probably need 1000 at the most. Maybe more like 500, if you're contracting your physical infra management to third parties. The actual development side could easily be handled by a team of around 100. 7500 people, yet they couldn't even stop creeps posting kiddie porn. What the fuck were they up to?

I wasn't expecting Elon to go DEATH CON on Twitter today but here we go.
It's interesting hearing my coworkers think that Elon is spawn of hell for this and how Twitter is unsafe. I don't use social media, and I absolutely despise Twitter, so it's just a neat concept. Either Musk fixes Twitter, or Twitter dies. It's a win either way.

Something big I noticed changed in the "What's Happening" trending sidebar.

It always schizophrenically refreshed every time you clicked on another tab and clicked back (or you're just scrolling and it refreshes on its own). Now, while it still refreshes automatically (it didn't a week ago), it no longer has state-specific "latest" COVID news at the bottom of it. Nor does it have random retarded "news" articles that can only be removed if you block the news source's twitter who made it. The #'s are few but organic again with sports notifications at the top of it. THANK YOU GOD, NOW THAT'S FUCKING IMPROVEMENT!

It's not actually about Trump (maybe a little). It's a two prong approach:

1. Shows advertising/ investors how much engagement twitter can get ( 1 million votes per hour)
2. Data to hunt down bots

Both work out for musk.

Like a couple of you smart folks already said, the trump vote thing is very clever, and has little to nothing to do with trump being reinstated. It's a pretty good to get some information on bots, after seeing that I wouldn't be surprised if some of the stuff he's been posting is being used for that as well.
