Pokémon (Not-So) Griefing Thread - Scarlet and Violet Released with 10 Million Copies in First 3 Days in Buggy States

I'm someone who genuinely does not give a single fuck about graphics, gimmie good gameplay or fuck off. That being said, it's definitely amusing playing through this and seeing how much the Switch struggles to run it, it runs like an obsolete PC trying to run a game 2 console generations ahead of it, but this game was fucking made for this console. Genuinely should of spent more time polishing the game for a launch release with the next console we all know is right around the corner.

As for gameplay, it's Pokemon. I like the auto battle feature and EV items being available almost immediately, and I'm glad they're embracing the open world approach because the series desperately needed to be as such. Sick and fucking tired of cutscenes already though. I've never cared about the story in these games, so no real comment there, it's just weird already being aquatinted with the Robot Lizard From the Year 8787 in the first 30 minutes.

It's kind of amusing the brown skinned rival character is literally obsessed with glorified cock fights though, don't think they thought that one through.

After spending a few hours with Violet I don't hate this game. There's lots of QoL like one button healing in the party menu that I really like. I also really like that there's more badges plus Totems are back which I'm fine with, just throw everything in who cares
The music fucking slaps though which I'm surprised by because I haven't really enjoyed the music since Gen V

Not to regurgitate the same thing as everyone else but, wow the Switch is struggling. Choosing a move and then watching the game process that in real-time is hilarious.

My biggest gripe is that every character looks nonbinary as fuck, to the point where it was almost certainly on purpose. Not to mention the one-note writing of every character so far, but it's a game for children so I don't exactly expect to have an existential crisis from the plot.

Also Terrastilizing is fucking gay and retarded bring back Megas you cowards

GF seems to be staffed by Yandere-dev tier programmers, from what I heard the game tries to render the entire world at once rather than chunks of it like other games. I really wish someone who knows how to program games will look into their newest game's code and tell in how many ways it's bad.

If it's really rendering the whole world at all times, that explains why everything looks like it's running a low detail model and you get pop in every 5 feet.

It will be funny to see once someone looks into the code and explains why it's so bad. If you told me 10 years ago a Pokemon game on release is so poorly optimized that you could unironically believe a no-name 3rd party made it, I would of called you fucking delusional, yet here we are. I don't think the game is terrible, it's honestly pretty hard to fuck up the formula at this point, but being released in this state for a AAA game, from the most popular franchise of all time, is just fucking embarrassing.

And even those standards haven't stopped Rule 34 from existing, at all. TLOU2's Abby, despite being a horrible character, has Rule 34 of her, so there is always going to be someone that decides to make wank material out of a character, no matter the popularity.
Some people are aroused by shit. No matter how nasty, someone will add these characters to their wank bank.

I put Scarlet on my Christmas wish list, so it’ll be a while before I get to play it. Hopefully, all of the really bad glitches will be fixed by then.

I must say, though, all of the negative things I’ve seen on Twitter about this game have me feeling somewhat nervous. Should I even bother getting it at all?

Honestly I'm enjoying it, Don't mind the one note characters that much, I don't play pokemon expecting deep character motivations and backstories and what not. I like the vibes they give off, and thats enough.

Tutorial section is kinda annoying thoiugh, they really need to fucking put in a means to skip the tutorial, I get these games are made for kids... but come on, it's not like Gamefreak releases these once a decade, there are plenty of kids who have played at least one previous generation, and gamefreak does not change the formula up enough to make the tutorial mandatory in every single game.

We need to stop coddling kids so much, we should just go back to the time when they had to figure every fucking thing out on their own.

So I was looking over the Pokedex and noticed Annihilape's type and evolution method, and then I remembered an entry for Primeape from the older games. It was basically along the lines of "this Pokemon is so fucking God damn unbelievably angry all the fucking time that this stupid mother fucker will just up and die of heart attacks at random".

You evolve Primeape by making it so fucking angry, it becomes Doomguy and even Hell doesn't want it around.

I gotta give GF props for that one.

i've only come across a few silly bugs now and then but besides that i really like the character customization and the ability to change it on the fly. but most importantly:
no more than 6 wild encounters in and i already found a shiny. he's a fletchling and my special boy

They don't even really have an excuse regarding being hamstrung by hardware because more graphically and computer intensive games have come out on the console and though they look terrible they don't run with anywhere near the strain this seems to. The fact you can watch in real time as cutscene camera movements chug the game and force it to reload all assets speaks more to Gamefreak's general incompetence than it does the switch as a machine.

Watching the protagonist's animations switch to low frame mode because the camera zoomed out two whole feet was probably the highlight of my session last night. Even the map seems to struggle to function properly, not sure how they can fuck that up.

Shame, this is pretty close to what an ideal future pokemon might be to me, but boy, GF just needs to be taken out behind the Nintendo shed and liquidated, they clearly can't cut it on a technical level anymore.

I think I'm about 25% thru Scarlet and so far yeah, it's a Pokemon game more or less. I'm having a whelming experience so far but of course they are still major problems like everyone says. I don't know what's with Game Freak and overly long tutorials but Christ amighty that almost made me want to drop the game entirely. It takes like 1-2 hours just to leave the starting school zone and It's a slog of dialogue and text boxes. Legends Arceus let you off the leash in like 20 minutes and it sucks so badly that this new game couldn't streamline their tutorials like the game that came out 9 months ago.

What really worries me about this game is all the talk about Skyrim-tier bugs & performance issues. Game performance isn't very pleasant nor consistent emulated but if the native hardware is having difficulties like everyone is saying then damn, that's gotta sting for whoever bought this game. At least with PC I was able to adjust the settings but those Switch owners have to wait God knows how long for Nintendo to fix their fucking game.

At least the new camera mode is fun to fuck around with. Here's a pic of Niggerina taking a selfie.

Holy shit. I haven't had any issues with tposing. That's just silly. I did have some pop up issues here and there up till last night. I explored up around the icy mountain to the north and finally had some real issues with the console struggling to keep up. It could be the memory leak issue I've read about though since I had played for about five hour straight.

The fact that Game Freak only patched their games for game-breaking bugs, i.e. the Lumiose City bricking issue if you saved in the wrong place in X & Y, and the Z-Parting Shot disconnect issue in Sun & Moon, doesn't bode well for the chances to fix those glaring optimization issues. They didn't patch the FPS drops in Gen 7 double battles (since the trainer is rendered, effectively making it the equivalent of a Gen 6 Triple Battle in terms of performance hits), as an example, and Triple Battles were removed for that reason. Unless of course, Nintendo gets fed up with people raising massive stinks about them, that they go full Iwata-mode and take a look at the code itself, to try to fix GF's shit. And then again, if the performance issues turn out to be a thing that can't be just coded out of the game...

Ah Triple Battles. I like the concept, but it was so unbelievably unoptimized and barely functional at times that's it's a surprise it ever made it in to begin with. If I recall correctly, you and your opponent could send out 3 Moltres each and because of the way the game renders it's flames, the FPS of the battle would drop to something rediculous like 5 FPS.

And then I remember why I hated doing Triple Battles...
Faggots running nothing but Darkrai + DV Smergal and Ubers. Wow, you're sooooooo fucking skilled when you put half my team to sleep on the first move, get chip damage on top of it, and everything else you're running has 700+ BST. It's not like you could really come up with a niche strategy either, Insomnia Mewtwo was about the only viable choice against that shit, and you could guarantee they're going to focus on taking that out instantly.

I feel that, but weren't there other insomnia/vital spirit mons you could used against it?
