Dib's actually Hispanic, as confirmed by the creator himself. I don't think a lot of Tumblrinas realize this.

There are light-skinned Hispanic people. Guillermo Del Toro is Mexican, FWIW.

And that doesn't surprise me, considering Jhonen Vasquez had also confirmed Johnny the Homicidal Maniac as being definitely not white, objecting when somebody wrote to him about Nny being a stereotypical pale goth type by pointing out that he usually colored Nny's skin as a yellow-ish color on the covers.

I will agree that "Membrane" doesn't come across as a very Hispanic last name.

Latinos pretty much come in all shapes and sizes. There are white latinos, black latinos, asian latinos (Lots of Japanese/Chinese migrated to parts of S.A. during the 19th century)...The reason why they're not as well known as the typical dark-skinned group is prob. bc some like the asian population is not as big as the dark-skinned/black/white pop., and others due to migration. Most of the latinos who migrate to the USA often tend to come from the lower classes and that's often linked with race too (white folks having the most money so they're often well settled in their own country, etc). So the USA knows more about the immigrants than the folks who stay back at home, and therefore that's why those are the type of latinos who appear the most in american media.

Sorry for the latino sperging, but it's just that for being "POCs", tumblr treats terribly latinos that don't look like mexican janitors or Sofia Vergara. I've seen more than one bitchy "latina" SJW attack latina girls with blue eyes and blonde hair and complain how they don't deserve representation cause they can already relate to white characters...Nevermind white latinos have a different culture altogether from white americans/europeans and they themselves don't "feel" like white americans. So sometimes they're white, sometimes they're POC, sometimes they're neither...

So, the first one looks like the artist threw up sparkles and forgot how colors work. And how cartoony stylization works. And how to draw hats...

The second one is going to haunt my nightmares. She's so deformed. Muscles and bones don't work like that. Hands don't work like that. And I haven't seen that show and even I know that she's not some sickly corpse blue.
