I noticed that - it was a juicy bit of victimhood one-upmanship in a tweet chain full of it. It can't have been a pet dog, it was a Very Important Service dog, so to ask any questions about the presence of dog hair or anything about the dog itself is being ableist.

In reality, psychiatric service animals, mostly dogs, are a great tool for people who have experienced real trauma - veterans being the prime example. But the system is also incredibly easily abused - I believe it's illegal in the US at least to even question someone who claims their pet is a service animal, and it's also trivially easy to find a doctor to get your pet assigned as one.

Genderspecials, especially troons,  love PTSD, they all claim to have it, so of course anything to do with 'treating' it they'd go in on, but the majority of these service animals belong to rich white women who want to take their pet with them wherever they go. Notable examples are a reddit AITA thread where a guy found out all his friends hated his girlfriend because she insisted on bringing her cat to a wedding as it was her service animal, and a funny article from the New Yorker where a woman, while writing about how much these laws were getting abused, did things like bringing a pig on a plane.
