That reminds me, he also said he saw the Power Rangers movie with his father.

That came out in 1995, I know because I was 7 and saw it with some friends with one of their moms taking us. That would've made Phil 13.

Now maybe it's just me but that seems like a weird age to still be going with a parent to see a movie targeted at teenagers. Maybe he brought friends with him but just left that part out, but I get the vibe this nigga had no friends at that age.

Really thats the crux of it. Like I play a lot of TCGs competitively. And you get two people, especially in Yugioh, who are like, "oh I gave up when they added these cards, the game got all stupid at that point". These are the DSPs. Well these are the start of the DSPs.

I love when Phil tries to fake fanboy shit to seem into things. There is always a hole and you can have fun sniffing it out.

Everything about his Pokemon history smells like complete bullshit. He explained his time watching the Pokemon Movie when he would have been in highschool and doesn't go over any details like the plot with his broad explanation of it. He saw it with is dad and they just think "Wow, this is what they watch in Japan?".

I remember being in elementary school and Pokemon card just for seeing it. He forgot to include the part where the movie was about Mewtwo. Just a fuckin phony.

It's not even misremembering at this point. It's just straight up bullshit. Let's not forget about our boy Tee Carter(who he murdered in cold blood), got him into the series now all of a sudden. It all makes sense now that Phil would do such a thing to get his hands on the 1st Edition Holographic Charizard.

Phil used to have a narrative he would bring up often that he missed out on whole generations of games because he was completely focused on Street Fighter. So whenever he played an older game he would reiterate how even though it's a well known game most people played, he didn't because he was all in on that competitive fighting games scene. At some point he dropped that narrative completely and now he acts like he has always a massive fan of everything. Late 90s and early 2000s era Phil was absolutely the kind of guy that would have acted like he was way too cool to play Pokemon and say it was just kiddie shit. In fact I would bet good money there are old forum posts or rants posted on Top Haters saying exactly that.

This is so stupid. Correct me if i'm wrong but haven't the events all been free in the past? Why is it this year Phil is making his audience pay for memberships in order to "lahck in" to events.
So now what will end up happening is he doesn't hit the goal and he has the event anyway because of "muh christmas spirit" or whatever gay lifetime shit he thinks of.
Or he hits the goal and sets a new standard going forth.

Fuck me that's sad. Sure I saw The Pokémon Movie but was 11. The movie I first remember seeing with my Pops was Jackass. It was a taboo show, but I howled with Dad on Weekends with my Dad.

I think 13 is ok to be going to the movies with a parent. Besides, it is possible his father went along because he liked movies or to have a father-son moment. Sometimes it can be wholesome to do stuff with your family. Now, this is DSP we're talking about so it's doubtful but still, 13 is not a weird age to be going to the movies with a parent. However...

At 17 and for the Pokemon movie...yeah I agree that's weird. There was a Pokemon scare at the time if I remember correctly so maybe Phil's dad wanted to make sure his son wasn't watching satanic propaganda. This is just speculation, but it would make sense to spawn someone like Phil if you yourself are retarded enough to think Pikachu is the harbinger of Lucifer.

The whole pokemon thing started around 96 and really took off a year or two later with the show. Phil would be entering his late teens and comfortably outside the oldest main demographic which was 10 year old kids or something. Its even weirder when you consider that he never expressed any particular interest in pokemon. So he's just going with Daddy to random children's movies.

But considering today he interacts almost exclusively with people far younger than him that would make the gap between teenage 'budding bodybuilder and prime US military candidate' phil and little kids at that 90s theater look trivial, its nothing new I guess

Okay to be fair last year was when he switched to Youtube full time. In the back of my head, in the back of my mind, I recall him saying something about needing to lock the events behind a paywall to make up for his lost Bit Cheers.
