I really like the fact that the 'theme' blogs never go on weird fucking tangents like twitter ones do due to the site being structured around users being able to run any number of blogs they want as a core feature. If you just want a feed of ancient computer bullshit, synthesizers or cats, that's exactly what you're going to get.The funny thing is Tumblr still has the same political lens as Twitter does yet compared to how those lenses are articulated on Twitter, I get way less aggravated and annoyed. On tumblr it’s either artsy stuff or it’s informative and professional with actual examples of bad stuff or good happening. On Twitter it’s bitchy remarks and written by someone with uncontrollable anger. Passive aggression essentially.
Out of curiousity I looked at the wayback for https://github.com/mastodon/mastodon/issues.Then I went and looked at the source code and then thought: "Oh dear."
It's a fucking Ruby on Rails application. 58.4% Ruby, 27.7% Javascript, and only 0.3% HTML and Mustache (HTML templates). Jesus wept.
Pffffft bahahahahahaha! Oh my god this is going to be such a glorious train wreck.
Amusingly it's been archived a whole lot recently and the project's gone from 2.1k open issues to 2.8k just this month. The instant one of those turns into a vulnerability we're going to be in for a mountain of salt.
