𝕏 / Twitter / X, the Social Media Platform Formerly Known as Twitter / "MUSK OWNS TWITTER"

The funny thing is Tumblr still has the same political lens as Twitter does yet compared to how those lenses are articulated on Twitter, I get way less aggravated and annoyed. On tumblr it’s either artsy stuff or it’s informative and professional with actual examples of bad stuff or good happening. On Twitter it’s bitchy remarks and written by someone with uncontrollable anger. Passive aggression essentially.
I really like the fact that the 'theme' blogs never go on weird fucking tangents like twitter ones do due to the site being structured around users being able to run any number of blogs they want as a core feature. If you just want a feed of ancient computer bullshit, synthesizers or cats, that's exactly what you're going to get.

Then I went and looked at the source code and then thought: "Oh dear."

It's a fucking Ruby on Rails application. 58.4% Ruby, 27.7% Javascript, and only 0.3% HTML and Mustache (HTML templates). Jesus wept.

Pffffft bahahahahahaha! Oh my god this is going to be such a glorious train wreck.
Out of curiousity I looked at the wayback for https://github.com/mastodon/mastodon/issues.

Amusingly it's been archived a whole lot recently and the project's gone from 2.1k open issues to 2.8k just this month. The instant one of those turns into a vulnerability we're going to be in for a mountain of salt.

Assume this is⏰, just found out that Trent Reznor quit Twitter (as if it mattered to him), so disappointing.
Not that surprised, dude fought real hard to change from his 90s persona, I'll never understand people like him, Marilyn Manson and even Eminem, guys, this is who you are, singing about killing your ex-wife while she's screaming in your car trunk, wanting to defile women and everything sacred, wanting to crush society in a nihilistic spergout - all of these is what made you into such huge stars. That manifest hatred and resentment, they sell, and it made you popular.
These idiots think you can kill your "innerdemons", lmao. No you can't. Your essence remains the same, your struggles will just make you frustrated and unhappy, and more importantly...
.... YOUR MUSIC WILL SUCK and you won't have the aggressive hateful fuel to write proper art.
All I know him for is making the soundtrack for Quake, as well as making that jumping sound the Ranger makes (which sounds like he's trying really hard to shit).

So who?

He's still alive? I thought he died of a drug overdose or auto erotic asphyxiation back in the early 2000s.

Rather off-topic, at Reznor's age, we rarely have the same raw feelings that one has at 20.

To be fair to Reznor, 99% of any pop musician's output tends to suck if produced past 50 y.o. So if he's gonna suck, either he keeps on churning "bad boy" pabulum at an age when it looks cringey a la Rolling Stones, or he does a volte face that may seem cool with the cuck kids under 25 and produce sucky music that's still cringe-worthy but at least on his own terms.

Of course, the Stones may seem depressing performing their naughty shit at their age, but they can wipe their asses with 100 pound sterling bank notes....

He's mostly scored movies, from Natural Born Killers to The Social Network, Seven, Gone Girl, and a bunch of other Fincher films, David Lynch's The Lost Highway, and produced music, including Queens of the Stone Age, Jane's Addiction, and (of course) Marilyn Manson. He's also done a fair amount of work under pseudonyms because he's not really into being a celebrity.

He may have written his masterpiece TDS while whacked out of his mind on drugs and suicidally depressed, but it would be completely fake to keep doing that shit when that was no longer the case.

He's genuinely an excellent producer, on the level of Phil Spector or Daniel Lanois or Rick Rubin.

Reznor has actually aged gracefully. He's gone back to his industrial roots and gone avant garde as he's aged, gotten sober, started working out and gotten married and had kids. It's good to see someone pull themselves up by their bootstraps and avoid the traps of addiction and insanity that so many other rock stars fall into.

I quite like his new stuff, actually.

Sort of late reply, but Tumblr felt almost exactly the same as Twitter in certain spheres, such as the art sphere that seemed like they just packed up and left to Twitter after the whole porn ban. As someone who used to be on the Tumblr subforum here, even with artsy/informative blogs there were always the ones that sperged out and would not stop ranting even if nobody cared about that.

Personally, I got just as annoyed looking at Tumblr posts prior to the porn ban that were similar to the ones showcased on Twitter recently, and saw no real difference between the two, though that could just be the posts I saw.

Are you talking about before the porn ban, after, or both? Because I’m browsing it right now long after the porn ban and my point stands. Im sure there’s sperging going on, but it’s a little tough to find on Tumblr.

Thereafter shalt Twitter be broken and remade
And the fun recovered out of telegram, tor and the chans.
For the shitposters shall surrender it, and with its fire Elon will rekindle the old memes
in the light of those memes the edgelords will awake, and all their banned arise.
And with the Zoomers sing anew, music of the internet.

I also frequently saw posts of the same annoying Twitter ilk on Tumblr well before the porn ban was ever instituted. These people were always around and they were much less harder to find than you might think. It kind of sounds more like you kept yourself under a rock on the Tumblr end of things if you never really saw it, and this seems to be the case for a lot of people on Tumblr in general as the general site layout and the degree of interconnectivity with other users was a lot more sequestered and easily filtered than it is on Twitter.
